My car has suddenly stopped starting and the Immob light is flashing when I try to start it.

It was working fine before but now it doesnt start on any of the keys...

Any ideas what is wrong or how to reset the immob?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I had this intermittently on my pd130 tdi sport... had to solder pins on back of dash to fix it

If it's the 6 dial dash then from what i know it's the pins on the back of the green plug giving the dash all it's readings etc

The 6 dail clocks suffer from this, Mine does.

You need to press firm'ish and keep it pressed untill you start the car. But to fix it fully you need to solid the pins.

Hope this helps.

It is a 4 clock dash. Does this mean it's unlikely to be the pins?

Some more info -

When I got the car the main key was stuck in the driver door lock and I only had one key. Around a month ago I lost the key and had to get a locksmith to come to the house. He dismantled the lock, removed the key and programmed two new ones. My brother may have tried using the old key which has since been found. Is this likely to have set off the immob?

If so what can I do?

Thanks

Dude! Did you read the other posts? Lol

They say if it's the 6 dial clocks then they are the ones with the problem and you need to re-solder the pins on the back.

Wakey wakey:D

Sorry mate, the wakey wakey should be that I meant to put 4 clock dash, not my best at 5.45am!

I have edited it for future reference.

take it to a local auto electrician, i used electromec from lincoln and they did it in a day, resoldering of the rear dashboard cures it, if you take it to a main dealer likley as not their diagnostic will through up a reader error, and they will replace your key and ignition with an audi key and lock at a cost of 280 pounds, which does not cure the problem!!

Very frustrating, I have spoken to the local VAG specialists... Who very luckily told me I need to take it to the stealers and get a whole new dash programmed.

Very useful info!!!!!

This car has cost me well over £3k now in two years of ownership, I only bought it for £2.5k. Gearboxes, exhuasts, clutch. Put me off VAG group vehicles for a long time I think.

Going to get the bloke who programmed the key round on monday to take a look. If anyone has any ideas on it over the weekend I would appreciate them.

Does the wiring fault only happen on 6 clock cars or could it happen on my 4 clock dash as well?

Where do I find the usually suspect pins????

Thanks

There is a common fault on the 6 dial dashes, but this fault could potentially happen to any car. With the right knowledge and equipment anything is repairable.

I would think if it can happen on 6 clock cars then it can happen on any of them, they're all made the same way after all and it certainly wouldn't hurt to try. I've seen the same issue on older vags too in these forums.

happy to give it a go, if it doesn't work Im going to have to take it in anyway. Any idea how to access the pins and where they are?

thanks

I've had my dash clocks out twice. Just look round at all the star screws going in think there's about four... Then some under the cover. Removing the clocks is a fiddle but once it's out it's straight forward to take it apart
