immobiliser is Knackered

hey people,
my immobiliser is not working been on a few websites tellin me to do this and that for four second and do this while holding this. has these things acually worked for anyone. can anyone help me out on some advice getting it checked out for cheap or something.

sorry the key fob works you know the lil light flicks on but it dont lock and arm the car. that means the immobiliser is knackered dont it.

can you start the car with the key cos it sounds like its just your remote locking thats naffed (which is a whole lot easier to fix than your imobiliser going south)
