Yes, it has a standard fit immobiliser :) If you wiggle the steering wheel without the key in, you'll hear it click and lock itself into place

Erm... That's the steering wheel lock not an immobiliser. An immobiliser is generally an electronic device to prevent the starting of a vehicle not the movement.

Really? I've always heard it refered to as a steering immobiliser!

I'm sure I've been told it has an engine immobiliser too....

According to autodata CD it should have one (engine code AER). Look for key shaped light on dash when you turn the ignition on.

The steering lock is in effect an immobiliser as you need to release it to operate the car (via the key). However an immobiliser in general, is often referred to as the electronic device that when armed will inhibit the car to start.

in therory it can be defined as an immobiliser (the steering wheel lock) as it does in some respect immobilize the vehicle, but no. It is an electronic device that disables the engine if naughty people get in your car! ;)

I spoke to someone over the weekend, who confirmed they should have engine imobilisers too - if you open up your key, you should find a chip which is what allows the car to start.

If you lose the chip, the car will start, but cut out after about 10 secs...
