This is more likely caused by a problem with the indicator switch assembly, not the relay itself. It can be caused by corrosion of the switch contacts or just a build up of muck. Worth trying a squirt of WD40 into the switch, near the base of the indicator stalk. If this doesn't work, try removing and cleaning the switch contacts. You might get lucky, otherwise probably a new switch assembly needed.

i had a replacement relay which would constantly click unless indicators were being used lasted about 2-3 days then the relay burnt out. little bit of panic with the smoke from the dash but no damage done. i would advise against running the car whilst its constantly on

Had this exact problem a few weeks a go. Try giving the indicator switch a good clean (the bit between the stalk and the steering column). I stuck some electrical contact cleaner down there, gave it a wipe and put a little wd40 in there, problem solved.

IPA, http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/isopropyl-alcohol-400ml-re79l sprayed on a cotton bud is the best thing to clean the actual contacts with. It cleans well and then completely evaporates without leaving a residue.
It can damage/discolour some plastics though and being pure alcohol, it's extremely flammable and burns with a near invisible flame, so a bit of caution is needed when using it.

Yup, WD40'd my hazard light switch area at the beginning of the year and it worked a treat! Yes it'll be a bit messy but you can always use the residue to clean up the dash board (and it smells nice - kind of) :)
