i can agree open cones can give good gains, iv always had open cones but make sure they are shielded or relocated into the wing or bumper so it doesnt suffer from heat soak. its all about making the turbo spin easyer, and less restriction will do that, ass will colder air as it is more dense and need less work to compress it. so for most power you want an open cone with a nice coldair supply.
