Infotainment fussy on files ?

Not sure if its just mine, or the MY20 units, or what, but mine seems very picky.
Some USB it won't recognise and after swapping it around into USB slot 2 and back it does !
My USB stick that had all my files in FLAC format worked perfect in the last car, but out of around 130 albums it only wanted to play 5 or 6, even though it could see and list the others.
All my files were ripped from CD to Flac using EAC and all at the same settings !

Fortunately, I had most of my albums also on MP3 on the PC so I copied those onto the USB thumbdrive instead, but odd albums it shows either no album art, or sometimes a "punk and Alternative" generic one that I presume is in the infotainments database as I don't have any with that image !

Is it just me, a common SEAT thing, or the MY20 unit that hasn't had all the bugs worked out yet ?

Apart from this niggle, early days but loving the car so far :rocker:

Still no joy on FLAC. I tried putting them on an SD card in the drive unit and it still refused to recognise the FLAC files

Think that's a Plus the same as mine. There are limits on the number of files / directories you can have. That's in the manual if you exceed that it won't see them. Bedlam has a slightly weird way of keeping in that limit. I've seen him post that.

– Playlists in the formats M3U, PLS, ASX and WPL.
– Playlists must not exceed 20 kB or more than 1000 entries.
– Filenames and paths that do not exceed 256 characters.
– For DVD, a maximum of 1000 files per storage device and directory.
– For memory cards, a maximum of 4000 files and a maximum of 1000 files per directory.
– For Jukebox (SSD) a maximum of 3000 files.

I use two 128gb cards structured by artist and album below. The art I copy into the album as a cover.jpg file no more than 512 x 512 pixel. You pick those up from Google pictures and select the appropriate one or downsize if not present. Sometimes the art is incorporated into Flac files if commercial. EAC may find them or you dive into Google images and do the right flick save on the right size. As said I have a standard proforma failing that. 512 x 512 limit is an old music server upnp standard so you can use those on your home system populating your FLAC library for the car and home.

It may not like 24bit ones... I use regular 16 bit FLAC. I don't use play lists.

It is the Plus unit isn't it being a Cupra Ateca. 1338 software is what I'm on.

I've never had any problems with it except when I forget to copy the album art into the album directory. If you don't do that you are relying on the art database in the unit (Gracenotes). Possibly that giving you the random art.

hmm yes I have albums in folders for artist, then each album I have in its folder again, each song has the #, name, artist, album in its tag.
EAC finds the album art and that has been embedded.
Total I have is 1868 files in 192 folders.
I am currently ripping 3 albums to try with a different setting, not sure about the 16 or 32 bit as I don't think I can choose that in EAC.
No idea what my unit is TBH, all I know its the newer version of whatever it is :)
IIRC I am software version 1104.

And no idea how/were /which/what is a playlist, they are just added as folders.

24 bit will only be if its one of the special CDs or from a download. If you are ripping from everyday CDs they will be 16 bit.

So not that. As I said I use SD cards for the music, one in each slot of the unit. Kingston Class 10, 128gb.

Artist1

Album1

1. Track
2. Track
Etc

cover.jpg

Album 2

etc

Artist 2

etc

Then do a folder play. It should see the encapsulated art but I slap the cover.jpg in as well for good measure and for the home server. No greater than 512x512. EAC you rename to cover.jpg if it finds them. Boot and braces approach so standard music server output. I slap any other art work into an artwork folder which it ignores.

I did convert all of of my music library over whilst I was waiting for the car to be built, CDs, MD, ripped music DVDs etc. So stuck to the recommended way of doing it with the cover art since I couldn't test it out. That I read on a SeatCupra thread :).

It's not fussy about the filename but the embedded track number steers it, least on a home server. Don't rely on whatever Gracenotes is doing. That's where the random stuff comes from.

Well I don't know

It will play the 3 albums I newly ripped to FLAC with different settings, 2 of them it has a generic cover for.
It might be the cover embedded is too large but TBH all the ones EAC finds are anywhere from 800 to 1500 pixels, and on 98% of the albums it displays it fine.

But TBH a good quality mp3 (all mine were ripped at max quality) sounds no worse than the FLAC on the Beats system, so I will live with those instead of ripping all those albums again, and just choose to ignore the odd album cover hiccup :clown:

Just for reference, my units info:

That's a Plus which we knew. I'd say the album art is too big so it's then defaulting to something else. Also needs it as cover.jpg but will object to anything much above 512x512. That's when I start looking at the Google images of the album at a suitable size if the ones EAC are finding are too big. Them just save that image. Most Amazon music art work is of the right size.

I did resize them to 500x500 but no joy, will rename to cover see if that helps … but I have a feeling its reading the embedded info, I will try re-ripping one with the smaller image embeded just to see ….

Well it still shows the generic art despite renaming to cover, and re-ripping using the resized cover embedded.
As I said, most of the covers are showing fine despite being much larger so I don't know if it is these particular albums or a glitch with the system or whatever, but its exhausted my patience now :givein::bleh:

Did you try a reboot... probably isn't that but it may have it in memory what to do with them which is now updated.

Being the case I might be glad I didn't go up to the latest firmware the retrofitter had. It was free to sort out the Mapcare issue which had occured with the retrofit firmware in the unit. Would cost if I wanted the latest firmware which he offered but that wasn't the issue. I stuck at My19 was on My17 before. 1338 is my current one, you are on 1409. Lot more trouble to copy out the infotainment settings than just fix the problem although the latter took all day messing up TSR on the order of the way the settings were updated. Three false starts leaving the premises and head stretching. Another hotel night booked. Think I'm ok for map updates for 7.5 years now. I posted up on the Ateca thread how the Mapcare Swap / FEC codes work. Was happy to get down to the bottom of how they work after the technician waved at one of the codes being the issue. Bit of research.

https://forums.seatcupra.net/index....n-navigation-plus-updates-can-be-made.457561/

Your last two digits will 21 or thereabouts I reckon. For those with three year mapcare packages abroad it tells them when they wont be able to update anymore. The UK ones are set at the quarter period it was shipped with which limits updates. Not so agitating when the car is new. PCP you can perhaps grin and bear it till the next time although not if it's missing bypasses.

OK fixed for one of the album covers at least.
I have approx. 240+ albums and so far have only noticed the generic replacement appearing on 2 of them.
The common thing between the 2 was a large area of solid white background, so as a last ditch attempt I altered the colour/brightness settings to make the white slightly off-white.
One of them now shows the correct art in car :)
Not sure about the other as I have it on a random play and it hasn't, as yet, played any songs from that album.

As I mentioned I will live with it the other doesn't work as 99% of art is correct anyways. But in case anyone else has similar issues give it a try.

Just for reference the 2 albums I had trouble with were: "Eurythmics - Touch" and "Pet Shop Boys - Discography" and its "Touch" that I know works now.
