Infotainment screen resolution/pixel density

Hello people,

I just went for a test drive with the Formentor with the 12" screen and one thing looks odd to me: the CarPlay/Android Auto UI is so large and zoomed in. The screen resolution seems decent for a screen this large but somehow the UI looks rendered at a lower resolution and then upscaled. On the other cars built on the MQB Evo platform (Golf, Leon, A3) the CarPlay/Android Auto UI is rendered quite different and fits much more info. The Formentor UI fits as much info as my Skoda Octavia 3 facelift with the 8" screen. Does anyone have any clue why is the Formentor CarPlay/Android Auto UI rendered so different? What resolution are those screens using? Thank you!

No, no one knows. The unit tells CarPlay what ‘resolution’ to present. For some reason they’ve just set it ‘wrong’. That being said, I’ve never found it a problem.

Within Android Auto you can change the resolution in Developer settings, you could try that and see is there an improvement.
