Hi folks is it worth me buying the injector cleaner that you add to a full tank.

1. Is it as good as they claim?

2. Could it damage my petrol cupra?

Cheers

i'm always a bit dubious about these additives that claim blah, blah, blah.

do you normally run your car on v power or tesco super etc? If so it should keep the injectors clean anyway.

fill your tank up to around 3/4 doesnt have to be brimming out of the top. Get some stuff from forte... it is proven and we use it at work to bring the emmisions down for MOT Test on diesels quite alot..

use FORTE gas treatment, pour the lot in your tank, and also along with that use FORTE Specialist injector treatment. the gas treatment vapourises and cleans alot of internal parts. wont to any harm at all.

the only things i wouldnt use to be honest is an engine flush as it holds all the stuff in suspension oil, grime, carbon build up etc. just dont fancy it striping everything of oil or dislodging something and it clogging an oil gallery. if you car has been serviced with regular good oil changes then that should be fine. so dont be tempted by the engine flushes.

As someone who's in the trade i've always been a bit sceptical of these sorts of products! Do they work???

I have started using Prolong products (www.prolong-uk.com) and have to say it does work, gave the 'Biza a bottle of injector cleaner and later have used the MPG+ fuel additive and have to say it's been a lot better on economy and seems to be a lot cleaner in terms of running, much smoother than before...

Have to say that as long as the car has been serviced regularly with quality oils etc and run on Premium (V Power, Ultimate, etc) you should only need one of these once in a blue moon!

Cheers Lads, Yea service the car very regular and use very good oil and always run on tesco 99 and also the car is opened up regularly so think my engine is nice and healthy. I have just got my hands on an x plate petrol cupra with only 63k on the clock and was going to keep it as a track day car but i have now managed to get my hands on face lift bumpers and a few other bits so going to repaint it in a metallic yellow (instead of the faded solid yellow it is now lol) and sell it. But its been sitting for a year so changed the oil, filters etc etc but its running rough at idle at the mo so know that the MAF needs a good clean and will check the coilpacks but wondered if it was worth a dose of injector cleaner as think it needs it.
I have a FORTE treatments lying about in the house so will have a rummage and give them a try.

if its running rought at idle, try maf and also clean out the throttle body butterfly flap when this gets carbon build up it surges the rpm. get some good card cleaner in a spray bottle and a cloth or old toothbrush! make sure there are no vac air leaks as this will also cause it, listen for any hissing or sucking air noises

Cheers il run through them and see what i find. No doubt it needs a good run to clear it out aswell. Saying that i have heard a faint hissing under the bonnet when it was running so will have a look.
