Injector cleaners and testers

I have a Cupra TDI 150 and need to get the injectors cleaned and tested.

Where abouts would be the best place to get them checked? I live near Stansted Airport.

I took my car to a Bosch specialists and they didn't have the testing equipment there and would need to send them away. I'd rather do it myself and save about £300.00.

If not that, how about a place that would do a part exchange for mine. Only place I found is charging £150 each!! I could buy them refurbished non-part exchange for that.

Or, maybe someone on here may have 4 150 PD injectors they want to off load?

Any ideas?

I dont know much about diesels, so this is from petrols i have had.

I got ultrasonic cleaning done on a single point golf i had, improved it slightly, and i mean slightly. However, ive had the same results using fuel system cleaners, so i think it would be a good idea to use them first, especially as they dont just clean out the injectors.

Ones I rate are Forte, Red-line, STP Complete and a new one from america called bg44k which was very good, but also expensive, about £25, the others are about £5-£15.

Ive read that the egr valves are very important on turbo diesels and can gunge up, and also that changing oil regularly helps reduce the problem. Im just wondering what your symptoms are? And maybe doing above with basics like air filter could be a good thing before spending hundreds?

Incidentally I got my injector cleaned at a Bosch outlet, it was £30 an injector.

Well, The symptoms are:

Poor starting, alot worse when cold.
Poor MPG, now down to 37! (was 55).
Blackish smoke coming out the back when you put your foot down.
Poor accelerator response.

I have read an article saying that this could be the EGR valve issue, but the garage told me it was ok. Still, I don't really have the greatest of confidences in them now.

Tried the cleaner stuff twice now. Each time things have got worse, not better.

All the times ive used injector cleaners the running has improved, this is because everything else is okay on the car, what i mean is the cleaners seem to work.

Sounds like overfuelling, what with the mpg bad and the smoke.

So maybe check the air filter is clean, and also the ducting air intake pipe, all air pipes, vacuum pipes etc, also listen for air leaks all around the engine and on the exhaust manifold.

Just read elsewhere it could be clogged injectors also, but the above dont cost anything to check so if you havent done them so far it would be good to do them first.
