Hi guys,

took a drive to get petrol this morning, and when i stopped the car and tried to get out my inside door handle seems like it broke? Im not sure yet whether some parts may of came loose and this is why its not working? i climbed out the passenger door looking rather silly at the petrol station and the door still works fine from the outside and locking was good to. When i opened the door from the outside i heard a few what sounded like nuts and washers falling to the bottom of the door panel. How can i get the door panel off to check whats wrong with the inside handle, and has anyone seen a thread on how to do this? also does anyone know how to put the door handle back together again?

Cheers!

This happened to me tonight so going to take a look at removing the door card at the weekend.

Did you resolve this problem or does anybody else have any useful advice?

Cheers

My central locking is also making a strange noise (when locking) and the remote key fob does not work from the range it used to (i.e. you have to be at the front of the car nearly touching the windscreen)

This all started since the heavy snow we had so not sure if water has got in and corroded the sensors. Going to take it apart at some point but wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

This happened when i got my windows tinted and when they put the door cards back on they never re attached the mechanism to the cable which operates the lock.So when you take your door card off there should be a loose cable that clips into the mechanism of the handle and then that should solve it if not then  Ellisium with the central locking sounds like you need a new battery mate

With the door card if you look at the black handle in the centre there is a line all the way along that seperates two halves if you unclip the front half of there should be some fixings to your door unscrew them and the door card should lift up :D

OK, I removed the drivers side door card earlier and the wire has snapped where it is pressed into the loop attaching to the handle.

Does anyone know the part number of this so I can get it ordered tomorrow?

Can't upload a photo due to insufficient posts.

Cheers

OK, for future reference I ordered the following part from SEAT:

1M0 837 085 C - Bowden Cable

The price was £15 and hopefully that should do the trick

Yeah still trying to master the art of putting down the window and opening the door from the outside whilst still looking cool ha

Next job is the central locking so will try your tip first, cheers

I picked up the Bowden cable from SEAT this afternoon and just had a go at fitting it but can't figure out how to remove the old one from the latch as there is very little access??

Has anybody changed this cable before and did you have to remove the inner metal skin by drilling out the rivets?

Im sure it's straight forward but could do with some pointers as thought it would be a simple 5 minute job.

UPDATE:

I finally managed to change the cable and it is a bigger job than I thought for such a simple item.

It involved removing the window and the inner metal skin to get access.

Make sure you have all the tools especially to remove the locking mechanism (2 screws on the edge of the door)

Hopefully that wont need changing again :)

Here's a quick guide as to how I fitted the cable as I couldn't find much when I searched.

- Remove the inner door handle (black plastic part - try inserting a flat blade screwdriver covered with some cloth or a decoraters filling blade underneath the handle to prose it open as it is only held by a few clips inside.

- This will reveal 2 philips head screws which can be undone.

- Now remove the 2 torx screws at the bottom of the door card.

These are the only 4 screws holding the door card on, now you can lever the door card away to release all the clips inside and lift it up to remove fully away from the door.

Before disconnecting all of the cables remove the 2 large rubber grommets which are about a quarter of the way down from the top of the door.

- Now put down your window until you can see the 2 bolts holding the window in place (where you have just removed the 2 large rubber grommets)

- Now you can release the 4 or 5 connectors to fully remove the door card away from the door.

- Loosen the 2 bolts holding the window in place and then carefully tilt it out to remove it.

- Remove the 10 or so bolts holding the mettal inner skin in place.

- Using the 2 holes used to loosen the window you can now prise away the metal inner skin.

- On the edge of the door you now need to remove the 2 screws holding the latch mechanism in place (not sure of the name of this tool but it had 8 splines and my torx set only went up to 6 splines)

- This now allows you to manouver the mechanism to remove the damaged cable and fit the new one.

- Obviously putting it all back is the reversal of the above.

Hope that helps someone in the future as it is a simple job but just need the correct tools especially to remove those 2 screws at the edge of the door but you will be able to see this before you even start.

here you go mate, should cover it.

I managed to do all of the other three doors by removing the plug and undoing torx screw. So assume as its the drivers side lock i will have to take the panel of as there must be something holding the lock
