Installing Leon Electric Memory Seats!

Hi all, in the process of removing my Cupra seats for half leather V5 seats. The new ones are electric and memory! it looks to me powering the seats up for electric should be ok to do with only supplying a 12v feed to the plug and earthing it to body.

But I know it’s not necessary for me to get the memory function working but would be nice to have it all working as it should for when I sell the car etc. I can see there is another plug for under the drivers seat and there is also a control module but I’ve heard it can be a pain to get working and isn’t as simple as supplying a feed.

Is it true I need another module that near the drivers steering column ?

how did you get on with wiring the seat?

I have just purchased similar seat which are seat Leon leathers which have electric functions alongside memory.

I have been trying to find a solution to wire these seats to my car, i don't have the cables in my car therefore ill have to wire them in

There's nothing memory related on the steering column, the module you're thinking about is the central convenience module which controls pretty much everything inside the car, and a bit outside (the wing mirrors). I reckon you'd have to replace the convenience module with one that supports the seats, then make sure everything else that was controlled by the old module still works.

I daren't even think about how much work that would be... It would be quicker to buy a Toledo and angle grind the boot off!!

i heard all i have do is to supply a power source which is fused should make the electrics work but i want the memory buttons to work which are on the drivers main seat

You will need to reconnect the airbags, add a wiring loom to connect the seat motor power, and switches on the dash if you need to connect seat heating.

The memory function for the seats is implemented in the convenience unit: it includes mirror adjustment positions as well as the seat. The only way to enable this is to change the convenience unit for the one that came out of the same car as the seats, or to get hold of one from a scrapper.

I have electric seats that were fitted by the previous owner, and that's how he explained it to me.

I recently bought a Leon 2017 xcellence with electric seats I noticed a blanking plate for the memory switches and was interested in trying to buy and fit. Would this be an easier job? Any ideas? I would be a real help for my disability. It's odd there was no choice. It's almost impossible to find anything on it on Google. Much appreciated.

LondonPirata - welcome to the forum. A 2017 Leon would be a Mk3 car, so the question is probably better asked in the relevant subforum. I've never worked on or owned a Mk.3 car so I can't help, I'm afraid. My guess is that retrofitting electric seats would involve adding in wiring looms to and from the fusebox and changing the convenience module. Not for the faint-hearted, but not impossible...
