Believe it or not my car is insured declaring mods but I've replaced my fuel pump with a APR one and my insurance aren't happy wanting another £230
I can't get my head round that and don't know what to do

You didn't tell them you'd already done it, did you? If they know you've done the mod already then you'll have to insure it so they do ridiculous prices!

Stupidly I rang to say I'd done it thinking it would make no difference.
To start with they reckoned they wouldn't insure it then after a fit they came to that price.
Need to decide whether to remove the pump and sell it or change insurer mid year.

That'll be why the stupid price then. I learned the hard way too...

It might be worth asking how much you'd get back and get a couple more quotes. Even get a quote with your current insurer with the added pump as a new policy if they were cheap to begin with!

My dad had a renewal from esure of £600, did a new quote of £450 with them but they wouldn't take it when he rang them up. So he had to join as a new customer again to save the money!

Well I'm paying £385 for my car at stage 2 and my company want £230 just to add a fuel pump and won't insure it on stage 2+.
Other quotes for stage 2+ are £1340 which I ain't paying so I think I'm going to stay stage 2 and sell my fuel pump.
I spent months trying to find one and now I'll need to sell it.

Greenlight are very good.
I'll always go through a specialist, as they are easier to deal with when adding mods, and if you have a problem.

I've been with Greenlight - what must be the last 6yrs if not more and whilst THIS year Adrian Flux could "slightly" beat them on price, One quick Phonecall to Greenlight and they matched it, & i decided to tweak things myself (took a bigger excess) and brought my renewal down a heck of a chunk!

Guy on the phone also told me that a Stage 1 remap on my car would only set me back an Extra £25 if i did want to do that at some point aswell.

The insurers Greenlight use will also cover the mods like-for-like, which most companies do.

I would be gutted if i spend hundreds/thousands modifing my car, extra £ to insure it... then only got paid out for a standard car if it was written off.

Another very happy Greenlight customer here.
Unmatched price for modified car and they just switched the car like for like when I went from an 57 plate TFSI to my 2011 CR170. No extra costs, same mods.
For a car that's worth 10k more, not bad

I always get Darren on the phone. Good chap. No hassle at all

I might switch. They recently broke into my car. They took the airbag and mediasystem 2 / RNS3something. Anyway, the insurance would only cover 80% of the mediasystem..because it wasn't a standard option supposedly. Teh suck.

It's that time of year again when I am looking to re-new/swap my current insurance policy. I have been doing some quotes and the cheapest which has come out was with Admiral at £424 with all mods declared, protected ncb, £250 total excess, legal protection. What are you lot paying recently?

I've just renewed with Adrian Flux, I've got a FL Cupra with an induction kit declared, paid £380 ish, I'm 30 with 11 yrs protected no claims. They asked how much more power the kit would make, i told them nothing unless it's remapped, which I'm planning on doing later, they then went on to say that the premium will jump to about £640.
