Intercooler Pipe Connections

I know this has been discussed before however I'm gonna require more help.

I've just bought a replacement part nr 17 on the diagram below as the lugs on the connection to part 16 had worn away.

I read in other threads that jubilee clips as well as a few others are the best way to secure the pipes. Is it possible to use jubliee clips with the factory standard parts as the female end of pipe 16 is quite rigid plastic and I don't want to crack it by putting too much pressure on it? Or are jubilee clips for use with silicon hoses only?

You're right, you can't use jubilee clips on these rigid types of joint.

Oh, and make sure you fully push 17 into 16 before putting the horseshoe clip on, so the clip sits behind the lugs.
If you don't push them far enough together, the clip will sit on top of the lug and can damage it when the pipe pops apart (the lugs are quite fragile, well mine were anyway!).

is there any of those colourful hose kit like samco etc for 1.9tdi?
1.8t has !!!
Wants to get rid of those oem ones they are a bit dull

Yeah if you put them under the tail end of the exhaust for a week before fitting them.
Derv engines are just as clean as petrol ones.
