Hi everyone, I currently have a Black Ibiza Cupra Tdi, with a Green Cotton air filter, Sachs uprated clutch a Revo remap, so pumping 200bhp maybe a bit more, had a run in with a Blue Renault Megane 230 R26 (nice looking car for a Megane with the light blue and yellow livery at the front and the dark wheels) on a private road between some roundabouts, basically he came flying up behind me and was dangerously close, between the bends it could handle well kept with the Cupra easily but on the straights the Cupra started to creep away between 2nd 3rd and 4th each roundabout at least a couple of car lengths, I would slow down go quite slow around the corner then start loosing him on the straights, after a few miles of this (lots of roundabouts!!) we got to the last roundabout which goes into a dual carriageway, I rolled my windows down and offered him to come next to me, he said no and went back around the roundabout and got off!

Think I call that VICTORY, but was very suprised! These diesel's certainly can shift!

I dont think the new ones are too bad. I was so close to swapping my Ibiza for a brand spanker 225 last month. We have got some here at work for cheap u see, but I didnt. Still tempted though!!

I love whooping people ass's in mine cos its the pre-facelift FR and it doesnt exactly look like a 'hot hatch' so many people expect to be able to breeze past.
WRONG :cartman: :p

Yep, i had a tustle with a 225 Audi S3 with a Milltek the other day... It pulled about 2 car lengths on a standing start.

Theyre crap on corners though as i managed to overtake on the OUTSIDE! and on a very very long stretch of tarmac he pulled all of 12 inches on me side by side.

Very nice bloke tho and recognised the VAG Diesel goodness :)

Sounds about right, ive come across two Megane 225's and both times there was nothing in it all the way up to the legal speed limit... mine's running around 180bhp so yours with a few more ponies, and playing with the newer version should be a good laugh!

Thing is, and its got to be said... I reckon you were getting atleast 25mpg whilst doing that, he will have been seeing single figures :D

According to the readout 32MPG which isn't to bad! Obviously combined with a touch of normal driving before hand so that helped, would of loved to take a pic of him before hand as he was smirking thinking: "I've got a 20k Megane you ibiza boy, you don't realise how much power I have" and after with his long face "I'm taking this back OBVIOUSLY my turbo has stopped working"

Does your car soot much? Hope you let him know it was a diesel!!

His was new, and still probably tight ;) ... pity he didnt have a mate in the car!

I remember a Similar incident once with myself a LCR and a pimpped up Golf (with extra large Turbo Vinal on the rear screen).

Ah well, we both had a good old chuckle coming out of the roadworks from 40mph.

LCR driver was a little way behind me in the soot... I think the golf started going backwards

Even better was the previous 4/5miles of them reving his engine next to me through the roadworks

Oh yes he knew it was a diesel, infact probably thought something was wrong with it  to be honest coming out the bends the torque was too much and the wheels were spinning as I was STILL getting away from him so I can only assume I could've beat him worse. He wouldn't get spin would he? I think they have an LSD like the Focus RS!

nice 1, bet that put a smile on your face lol. yeh the 230 has a LSD but the 225 doesnt. its quite hard to tell which is which tho in your rear view mirror but they are really good round corners, in evo magasine the traction control hardly made any difference when they tested it round a track!

Well I would of said that as well but the proof is in the pudding, I've had run in's with all of todays hot hatch Focus ST was fast but again was gaining on him, new Golf Gti was the worst and was no where, Focus was the same as the Megane really similar delivery etc, I think 90+ the Megane and Focus may start catching me up.

Not trying to jump on the "PD130 remapped is the fastiest car in the world" train. But im pretty sure until double figures there would be little in the cars, depending on driver. Ive had ago against one at lower speeds, and pretty cained it (was a sales guy driving it) after we had been slating the Fiesta ST in the showroom, he took the big gun Focus ST out, and still barely kept up.

Saying that, I had a play with a T5 (not the police) on a long private runway and I got spanked above 100mph+ its like my car wasnt trying.....
