Hi Everyone

Has anybody noticed a creaking from the rear parcel shelf of their saloon, or does anybody have any suggestions on what it might be? It seems to be louder on the passenger side?

Thanks

Mine creaks in the front, especially when it's cold. Front passenger side, somewhere near the base of the windscreen I think.

Hi rob

It is worst when its cold, but mines at the back of the car. Plastic rubbing maybe?

I knew I'd strike lucky with the forum search facility. :D

I have an Exeo ST 10 months old and having got used to the luggage cover occasionally springing open or the roof net jumping shut while driving I am now being tortured by creaking from either the 3/4 back seat or the rollers of either the luggage cover or roof net.

I have emptied the boot, done up all seat belts driven with the luggage cover open then again with it shut and the same with the roof net. I only achieve complete silence when I fold all the seats down.

Anyone else have this problem or will a liberal spray of silicone to the rollers and seat clamps be worth while ? I have hearing sensitivity due to autism and it is driving me crazy.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this creaking? I have an 09 ST and the parcel shelf creak is sending me slowly crazy. It's coming from the passenger side. I've tried spraying the area with silicone lube (this helped with the creaky handbrake) but the parcel shelf is still bad. It helps if I remove the shelf them reinstall it, but after an hour or two the creak returns. Having the boot cover open or closed makes no difference.

I think after spraying the rollers of the parcel net and the boot retractable cover several times the sound eventually stopped. I've recently changed car [not because of the squeaking] but I had forgotten about it so perhaps you should give a few more spray treatments.

I have a saloon and have the exact same noise from the rear shelf - drives me nuts!
Could it be the sub woofer or amp for the BOSE?

Not in my case as I don't have either of those. Also when I press down on the luggage cover I can recreate the creak.

I think I have now got to the bottom of where the creaking is coming from, and it's not the luggage cover. It's actually the black plastic corner cover on the left hand rear seat (see the first pic below). The luggage cover presses on this via a black foam stud which is why I thought that was the culprit. I've attempted to fix the creaking by removing this panel (one screw at the top, one on the side) then I squirted LOADS of silicone lube on the creaking part on the underside of the plastic (there's a plastic mount which clips into place on the rear of the panel. It's this which creaks when you press the panel). This didn't fix the creaking so I ended up squeezing a sticky foam pad under the part which creaks (third photo, white bit). I haven't been out in the car but when I press on the shelf the creak is much much quieter.
