Interior Fan goes faster in reverse?

right this is weird an doesnt really effect the car but thought i will post it anyways......if you turn the fan on say 1 and drive the fan is a constant speed, put the car in reverse an the fan goes mental!

it does it what ever setting the fan is at aswell?!

im think its getting a additional voltage from the reverse switch?

or is it a Seat quirk!?
 
Its a SEAT qiurk mate.

It goes into recirc mode (recirculates the air inside the cabin) so that the exhaust fumes are not sucked into the cabin.
 
Am I being dim I always knew this but why when you are in reverse? Why does that make any difference cos you are reversing into the exhaust fumes? Surely it should then really do it when doing below 5mph ie manovereing for this to be worthwhile?

I'm only presuming this, but when you're reversing in affect you'll be driving over the fumes (i.e. they'll go under the car), whereas when you're going forward, essentially you're driving away from them...if that makes sense?

I've probably got this totally wrong, but that's what I've come up within the past 5mins from reading this thread :happy:

Well yeh that is what I meant by reversing into exhaust fumes but when I said this to a friend ages ago when he asked why it did that he said er but when manoeuvring at low speed fumes as under the car. Just a thought it all not fussed I breathe in truck diesel fumes all day at work our office is always thick with black dust!

TBH, I'd rather it just didn't...not that I'm suicidal, it's just a minor thing that annoys me, like the ice warning.

I was wondering about this the other day and I just assumed it was one of those weird quirky faults that car manafacturers seem to miss when thier testing thier cars! lol
