Interior light cluster/sunroof switch panel removal

hi folks, i'm after a bit of advice.

the car has developed an irritating buzz at certain rpm's coming from the interior light cluster/sunroof switch area.
it states in the handbook to 'remove the plastic cover by inserting a screwdriver in the rear section'.
now this seems a bit vague to me and since i'm a bit anal about marks on interior trim i was hoping someone out there could be a bit more specific.
i know a few folk have changed their lamps for led type ones so please spill the beans.

If you have a sunroof and a buzz then it's probably the alarm interior sensor doing it as it is mounted differently to a none sunroof car.

This can be removed with your fingernails, just yank it out and see if the buzz stops. It's the bit betwen the interior light and the sunroof with a sort of grill in it.

If removing this stopps the buzz let me know and I can help you sort it with a bit of superglue.

Also check the roof lining I had a similar buzz from what seemed to be the interior light cluster and it was the roof lining rubbing against the front windscreen. Just tweaked it with my fingers and the noise went.

i yanked that out nath to see if i could get better access to the light cluster. unfortunately its not that.

OK so the interior alarm sensor isn't the problem. Once this is removed it helps to remove the interior light. To be honest all you do is yank it but with the sensor removed you can see more what you're doing. All you do to remove the interior light is yank it out but it takes a bit of force.

That is what mine did as well as when you press the light fitting it pushed the roof lining up slightly and the buzz went it was only by chance that I found it. It will deffo be one or the other though. By taking off the interior light cluster it may release some pressure that is forcing the roof lining onto the windscreen anyhow if it is that.

Just a quick update. To get better access to the lighting panel I pulled the rear view mirror out. I still couldn't get the lightning out but after I'd put the mirror back in (that's a tw@t too) the vibration seems to have disappeared, up till now anyway.
I'm guessing therefore that it was the mirror or indeed the head lining!
