I have suspected for a while that there was aproblem with my climate control sensor on my lcr.

My airconditioning pump has stopped working for some reason and I expected to see a problem with the air con pressure sensor but I got fault code 00785, temperature sensor in instrument panel (G56) Static - open/short

Does anyone know where it is located and how to get to it? Are they a fortune?

Thanks.

It's behind the grill in the panel above the Climatronic control unit. There is a little fan that sucks air in through that grill and across the sensor.

I think you have to take the surround off from the center console. The bolts are behind the radio and the ashtray, so you need to take both of them out first. Make sure you've got the radio code.

Check that the little fan is working and that the sensor and grill haven't become blocked with dust and fluff.

I have realised that I forgot a potentially important fact, I have factory fitted sat nav, there are holes in the plastic each side of the screen now I have looked properly.

I'll search for a guide to removing the unit, it's not obvious! I have the radio code thankfully!

Thanks for the help.

I'll pop over and take it out for you if you want. Heck, I'll even refit a standard one, so it's a bit easier for you to remove next time. How about that for service!

The double-DIN radio/satnav needs two pairs of extractors in the slots top and bottom of the unit.

The dash temperature sensor must be behind or to one side of the satnav unit, with the little fan pulling air over it from one of the vents you've spotted. It should be obvious once you've got the satnav unit out.

Pabs description, linked to by Lee69 above, says the sensor is positioned on the right hand side of the double-DIN console.
