thats much lower than the quoted figures by SEAT :-

Fuel consumption (urban) 43.5 mpg
Fuel consumption (extra urban) 67.3 mpg
Fuel consumption (combined) 56.5 mpg

i would get in touch with the dealership or garage you bought it from and have them look into it mate

Is the actual fuel comsumption matching what the computer says?

Is there any evidence of fuel escaping from your system?

Are all the obvious things ok? Tyre pressures correct. Brakes not binding. No holes in the fuel tank or fuel lines damaged.

As above, check the computer is correct by doing manual calculations. My computer always reads low.

Also try and get the MAF/Thermostat checked.

I've only had my car (143PS SE TECH) for a couple of months but I'm getting an average of 42MPG with mainly mixed driving. It seems to be far more economical at 30mph in 4th than it does at 60mph. In fact, driving at around 78mph seems to give me better results.

Not the most economical of engines I've had. The last two were VAG 2.0TDI engines and both were constantly above 50mpg.

Exeo mpg (My first Post)

Hi
I collected my 2011 (143) Exeo ST last week. Full tank to full tank it is only doing 38 mpg. My 8 year old Octavia with the 2.0 pd was averaging 47 mpg over the same roads/conditions etc. This is disappointing since SEAT say 50+.
Can anyone say what its going to be like towing a caravan?
I am now worried that its too high geared.

find 36 a bit low i went drom hartlepool to durham today up through the back roads past wingate, thornley etc in my leon, didnt hang around and i got 43, granted a lighter car but its 170bhp so the torque was used a fair bit. when i go down the a19 on a 15 mile trip to work i can sometimes get 45-46if theres no back up of traffic

My 170 returns 45mpg but it takes twenty miles to warm up on a really cold day. It might be worth resetting both trips once the engine is fully warm and going for a good drive.

my brother has a PD160 Ibiza with a gtb2260vk on it running low power due to needing a new head but still running 225bhp and he gets 29-30mpg kicking the crap out of it and easy 50+ getting near 60mpg when driving like miss daisy.

and this is the old 1.9PD

Block half your radiator off with a bit of cardboard. The car heats up a lot better. gives better fuel economy. Just don't forget to take it back out when the temperature rises again.
