is it a cupra or not??

my new ibiza is up and running now all road legal and everything. ive been reading sum of the posts and looking at pics and at my car, and mine doesnt say cupra anywhere. it its a 1997 r reg gti 16v, facelift. it has half leather interior, elerctric windows and mirrors but nothing else. no sun roof not even a glovebox. it also has white ronal 16 inch alloys. if that means anything. none of these things both me im just curious. the chap i broght it of said sumthing about it maybe being a rally edition or sumthing but he woznt 2 sure.

any 1 shed any light please??

cupra was a spec not an engine, and i beleive cma eout about 1997 so its possible you have the gti 16v not cupra gti 16v or whatever its called

V5 will tell you or stick ur reg plate into an insurance quote, when i put my reg in it comes up "seat ibiza 2.0 cupra sport gti 8v "

Mines a R reg 97 and it says cupra sport on both the V5 and on insurance sites.

the cupra sport tended to be a rally (read : poverty) spec model trying to save weight.

On the V5 and insurance it says mines GTI. My Cupra stiched interior, lack of sunroof/soundproofing says otherwise.

mine has come up with the colour as yellow!!!!!! but it does say IBIZA GTI 16V CUPRA SPORT so not sure what is a cupra and what isnt... delt SEAT even know!!!!

From your sig i notice your car is lime green? I THINK the official colour is Kiwi Yellow, hence the description on RAC

thanks john for pointing that out... the storry behind the sig is i had it made for another forum as my username was limegreen, kinda what i get spotted as! only reason i use it on here is so my post dont look so laim! I agree it is kiwi yellow on the V5 but ask anyone in the street they say green all day long! think its just a SEAT thing!

this is what mine says, but theres nothing on the car that says cupra. it says Gti16v on the grille and the back, and yes i no cupra sport isnt a engine spec.

mine also comes up as a GTI 16V although i know it's a Cupra Sport (reg doc also says GTI 16V)

only acurate info i've found (well atleast on the cars i've owned and checked) is on a main dealer kerridge system, all UK vehicles are registered on this and when you enter reg or chassis it gives you the vehicle details

on kerridge mine shows up as a 2.0 16v Cupra Sport which it is
