Is my MAF on the way out??

Hey,

I have concerns about the Mass Air Flow sensor in my car which is only coming about from concerns over the fuel economy in my 2002 Leon Cupra 1.8T 180bhp

Got the car in March and was fully standard. Had been getting normally around 26 to 28 mpg (calulated - doesnt have a trip computer)
Got it remapped a month ago and with the new map the economy has gone down to around 22-23 mpg.
Am told i should even be getting a lot more than 26mpg anyway. A guy with same car and same map is getting about 100 miles per tank more than me.

So, i am looking at the MAF as having something to do with the bad fuel economy.
from reading up on it here the advice says a full rev range run with vag-com should show the MAF reading to be about 0.8 of the peak bhp (or even up to 170g/s with a remapped car)

So based on this can someone please help me and tell me from the below readings if it looks like there is a issue with the MAF in my car or anything else

Standard map
Code:
RPM Air mass Spec. Boost Act Boost Torque	Power

 /min g/s mbar mbar	lb/ft	bhp
2040	5.97	1000	1090	0.0	0.0
2240	57.69	1410	1040	121.4	51.8
2960	77.31	1710	1750	185.1	104.3
3680	94.58	1640	1680	173.5	121.6
4280	100.36	1580	1620	161.9	131.9
4720	118.89	1610	1560	161.9	145.5
5200	131.33	1670	1640	167.7	166.1
5600	28.17	1680	1660	163.4	174.2

After remap
Code:
RPM Air mass Spec. Boost Act Boost Torque	Power

 /min g/s mbar mbar	lb/ft	bhp
1880	41.28	1450	1050	109.9	39.3
2440	76.31	2120	1500	206.7	96.0
3120	106.61	2200	2110	254.5	151.2
3960	122.78	2080	2030	248.6	187.5
4680	138.42	2040	2030	241.4	215.1
5200	21.17	1960	1940	214.0	211.9

Thanks
Steven

Hi,
What's the remap?

I'm afraid there are insufficient readings in your logs to draw any conclusion over your MAF readings.

You need to log no more than two blocks - from say 2500 rpm to the red line wide open throttle all the way.

Its a custom map from Chipped IRE

ill try get a proper run up to the red line tomorrow. I ran out of road before a curve in the readings above.
Thought there may be enough in there as a guide.

Also, when idle (revs around 760rpm) what is the expected Air/Fuel ratio?
Mine (if i calculated right) seems to vary between around the 30 mark

Hey,

I did a better run in it today (also added a Forge 007p DV and self-modified the gear shifter for short throw)

can you please review the below readings and tell me if you see anything up with the boost or MAF reading

Code:
RPM Air mass Spec. Boost Act Boost Torque	Power	A/F ratio

 /min g/s mbar mbar	lb/ft	bhp
2000	5.42	980	1010	0.0	0.0	FALSE
2280	31.56	2260	1150	156.1	67.8	13.34079035
2800	59.47	2240	1700	221.2	117.9	16.9308336
3520	94.86	2160	2270	242.9	162.8	15.50473756
4200	113.33	2130	2040	245.8	196.5	14.37470065
4920	143.42	2040	2010	214.0	200.4	14.1717872
5440	157.08	1990	1930	206.7	214.1	12.27869556
5920	166.92	1970	1900	179.2	202.0	10.96185786
6280	171.39	1970	1840	153.3	183.3	10.91711571

Also as asked, what is normal A/F ratio when Idle - mine varys around 30.

thanks in advance

If someone else has done the same logging, are your readings similar and the air flow readings in and around the same for the same bhp?
