ok so here goes, decided to do a little log for the first time since i got it mapped, the map is from a company called big fish tuning and was fine when first done.

fast forward a few month and ive decided to have a look see what its like now after ive fitted my fmic, new plugs etc

looking at vagcom 4th gear run to WOT

which gives me this, checked timing pull and i get 6 on cyl 4 but the others mostly stay at 0 or 2ish

does anyone have any ideas? could it be a tired maf sensor just under reading? car pulls ok but the butt dyno seems to think somethings a miss

car is going to be mapped asap but i wouldnt expect the FMIC to have that much of an impact on airflow through the maf

more data and clear wot run req'd ideally

002,020,115 - check airflow, injector ms, timing CF, requesed boost
001,031,118 - check fueling and boost/n75%
002,112,118 - check airflow, egts,boost/aits/n75%

3rd gear 2k-6.5k where safe to do so

looks lean at the top and its pulling timing from 5400rpm onwards because of slight knock, probably from the weak afr

i'm still learning the humble 1.8t ecu so someone more knowledgeable will come along soon I bet

yeah join the club adam, ive spent the night reading up on injection on time, afr's, and what causes knock (i use vpower everytime, bar the odd time im caught out)

the plugs are new and gapped to 0.28 altho ill pull them tomorrow and double check, fuel filter will be changed tomorrow just cause its cheap and probably has never been done, inlet will be getting torn off to check all them horrible pcv pipes for any more leaks.

also going to check and treble check all FMIC pipe work (even tho it meets and exceeds requested boost), as far as im aware from my limited reading the n75 duty cycles look fine?

block 002 injector ontime from reading up at a peak of 20.6ms works out about 83%? if my maths is right (probably wrong tho! lol )

I've got lots of petrol tuning experience just not on 1.8t so I don't know if they can handle it.
I just looked at the lambda request and worked out its in 13's which is too lean for me, fine for the odd 3rd pull, wait till it's in 5th 6th doing too speed runs, yes it has a Egt and knock fuel map but no engine should ever need to use them if set up right,
which then you look and see cf's of 3 at the same point signs to me the lack of fuel is cause the onset of knock but the ecu is clever and is protecting it for you.

mild looking map
I would run it slightly richer personally but its not disasterous..

A tuned car should be tuned on one fuel and kept to it that's just my opinion, lots of other groups I'm used to tuning like japs and french cars stick totally to Vpower when remapped, I find it strange the vag scene doesn't then cry when they get low power dynos and running issues when using dishwasher supermarket 95ron fuel

ive been pretty strict with my fuel and travel about 3 mile for vpower, but sometimes get caught short and have to use supermarket rubbish, but if they do 97 ron at the pump ill pay the extra for that

what happens when these are sold on and new owners dont take notice or care about fuel grades vs mapped for

std spec the car can pull a max of 12 degrees timing from hearing knock

Pulls up to 12degrees? I'd still rather it not pull any on Vpower.

I come from ecus that have shite knock control and cars that run on carbs and basic ignition control with. I knock control at all proper fun and games, where you need to tune it right without letting anything help and having to run lamda values of below 0.81 to stop it detonating once it's all warned up properly on a top gear 5th/6th prolonged load

Think it'll stick to using my ears to listen for knock than a sensor that could be giving wrong readings

I would be trusting bosch knock strategy over your ears from inside the cabin any day :p

ME7 ecu is clever and will try its utmost to keep the engine in one piece.
