just an FYI,

Seat are doing the belt for £299 at the moment with this fixed price thing. If yours is due soon might be worth getting it done now!!

Is that diesel ? I think some of the petrols are chain

Does that include the water pump if not you can add £100 on top which is not that much off really. :(

Just for comparison we charge around £100 for a minor service, around £200 for a major, £40 per MOT (£30 if carried out in conjunction with a service) and cambelt replacements (which, from us include everything regardless like water pump, hydraulic dampener etc) are around £300. Those prices fluctuate slightly depending on the model.

That's all year round, no deals, no gimmicks, no inflated unwanted estimates of "work thats been picked up on the service" i.e UPSELL/BONUS work.

Services include a full thorough check over and inspection and we always use genuine parts.

That's very well priced, if only you weren't so far away!

I've been in the same boat, checking prices etc as mine is 4 years old now. Its only done 29k, do you think changing the cambelt/pump this year is necessary? If so I'll just bite the £550 bullet next month!

It's an 08 FR TDi btw

Seat recommend a belt replacement every 4 years / 80k, so its due on age mate, according to their recommendations

Very interested in this, my PD100 is due the cambelt in 3500 miles. Where did you get this info from? :)

From seat official website. Only some dealers are participating and the car must be between 3 and 10 years old!! Check the website for details

Water pump should be just parts cost if you are having it done when the cambelt is done considering it's part of the belt drive, though obviously stealers charge what they please for the most part... I would think that it's only maybe an extra 20 mins or so if that, let's face it they're used to doing these things day in day out.

my major service (55k miles 57plate mk4 ibiza) was £400 from a Seat dealer. this included timing belt. just saying

You obviously got away with a good one dude as the prices on the site add up to more! Obviously each dealer is owned by a different company (usually) and have completely different ways of mounting up work and charging accordingly.
I'd be impressed with that sort of charge though!!

Ah fair enough, I'll have to take a look around on there and see. Mine is a 2008/08 thankfully.

I emailed Seat on Friday to clarify when mine is actually due as they seem keen on changing the intervals fairly frequently!

My books states 80,000 miles with no time constraints - Will be interesting to find out if that is still current.
