Issues with Cupra

Hello,

I have been running into some issues with my Cupra lately. Random EPC/Limp shows up and the following faults are thrown:

000545 - Angle Sensor for Throttle (G188): Implausible Signal
P0221 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent


001287 - Idle Control System RPM: Higher than Expected.
P0507 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

000289 - Throttle Position Sensor (G69): Implausible Signal
P0121 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

004688 - Fuel Level too Low
P1250 - 008 - Implausible Signal

005445 - Throttle Valve Controller: Malfunction
P1545 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

P1545 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

17987 - Throttle Actuator (J338): Adaptation Not Started
P1579 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent


I have run basic setting for TB btw.

When the issue happens, my car either goes into total limp and i have no throttle at all, or sometimes just normal limp mode with no boost etc.. When i turn the car off and then back on, it sometimes idles extremely rough (sort of like running on 3 coils or so) sometimes bogs and dies, and sometimes just works. This has been an on and off thing for the past 2 weeks.

Another issue i have been running into as well is a random 3 beep alert then ABS, ESP, and BRAKE warning lights come on. Once i turn the car off then back on they go away. If this is related, this has only happened once like a month back and never again till 3 days ago. I assumed it was random at the time. I dont know if this is related either but 3 days ago just before this happened, I had installed my Autotech insert. This happened 3 times that day, and once the day after. Since then this issue hasnt happened.

2009 regular Cupra (Fsi). Not sure if it is fsi for you guys there as well in 09 but here (Lebanon) we didnt get tsi till this year or so.

how did you do your TB reset?

Check your wiring harness

Through block 60 if thats what you meant by the question.

Pov was reading in another thread about a similar issue you had. Was that due to wiring harness?
Anyway will get to testing the harness on Saturday. Hopefully that will solve this

Yeah mine was wiring harness same symptoms and fault codes as you described. Intermittent fault though so might not show up during testing

I see. If the fault stops happening I am going to assume it is the wiring for sure. That is engine rocking should be reduced now with the insert leading to less pulling on wires.

Just for clarification, the symptoms you are talking about include the ABS/ESP/Brake alert as well?

I'd say POVERTY is probably right.

I had the same fault codes on my 2006 TFSi Sport and it also turned out to be the wiring harness ( after 16 visits to the dealer!)

Yep, my **** dealers couldn't diagnose it so it took me 12 Months to figure it out myself. Mine did it from new! I even knew which wires I had to wiggle to stop it doing it when it played up
