Rich, that is what I found great about this site and the people here when I first bought my Leon.

Almost any problem has been come across and solved and people will help you fix it cheaply and quickly (so long as you search first;o) )

Before coming here the most I'd done to a car was fit a CD player (98 Corsa) but now I've added a splitter, messed with badges, changed brake pads, upgraded the front brakes, had anti roll bars fit/

hi all. i went to collect my LCR lastnight. absolutly love it. its fast as fook, looks awesome and handles brilliant. As me being a mechanic i thought id get it up on ramp today and have a check over her. To put it quite mellow im a tad angry. The n/s/r inicator bulb is as white as a reverse light, the cigar lighter is inop (no ipod:cry:), the rear wash doesnt work, the aircon is inop which has no gas in at all, my radio doesnt hold its stations after ignition off and ive only had her 24h. :censored:. [:@]

Come on your a mechanic, Indicator bulb - Replacem Cigarette lighter, bound to be a fuse or a case of bending the tabs out inside the lighter, Washer bound to have popped off inside the tailgate trim, air con just gas it, and check for leaks, and radio the red and yellow wires will need switching as different looms. I'm a mechanic too so would have them all sorted within an hour.

Don't let it put you off a great car!

also... we do a 101 point check on a car before it is sold, all these things should have been adressed but its easy to do yourself if you have the know how

BUt if they said they did it and infact they haven't, then they are breaking the law!

This is a very common thing with garages im affraid!!! they say they did somthing and they haven't thats why i dont trust them and i do everything apart from MOT myself.

This is worse if your woman or they pick up that you dont know anything about cars. I should know i youst to be a mechanic for 5 years!!! and worked in a place just like it.

its criminal some of the things they do!!!!!

Those things are niggles yes, but certainly not the end of the world - certainly for a mechanic too.

To be honest I'm not surprised to hear that these things haven't been checked out before they let you drive the car away. I had a similar experience with the dealer I bought my car from in Leeds.

The car looked well on the forecourt and drove perfectly IMO on the test drive. But I did highlight nasty stone chipping on the roof above the windscreen, ill-fitting bootlid trim, blown rear bulb, loose rubber seal around the windscreen, and most importantly the airbag warning lights were flashing on the dashboard and the stereo didn't work.

They promised to fix the lot of them before I picked the car up and when I eventually did I dealt with some **** sure numbnut of a site manager because the salesman I had done the deal with was on his day off.

They had sorted the nasty stone chips on the roof quite nicely and had replaced the blown bulb and the airbag lights stayed off until the following day - so they had clearly just reset the code by plugging it into a machine.

Another thing was that they gave the car a full 12 month MOT and it cost them a new tyre as well so I was quite pleased.

I was pretty annoyed though when the radio still didn't work, the boot trim was still loose and the airbag light came straight back on again the following day and so I went back to the dealer and gave them a b0ll0ck1ng. The ar5eh0le manager bloke made every excuse under the sun and said that they had fixed the airbag light and that something else must have broken overnight etc... I had a full blown argument with them but realised I was getting nowhere and that I should just fix them myself, which I have at minimal expense. Okay yes, it was a faff that I didn't need but its sorted now and at least I know that the jobs have been done properly and not bodged!

Gets some pics of the new beastie posted up mate!

just a quick update. sorted the fuse out for the cigar lighter.sorted out the radio(swapped the red and yellow connectors), filled up the aircon with gas and checked for leaks. seems ok. tested aircon and checked the fans for running. there only running on full blast speed every 20 seconds or so. found a thread on here and it says the fan controller module is burnt out. have printed it out for some ammo to throw at dealer! and today i cant open the boot. tryed turning it with the key but still no luck. it feels as if the latch system has come apart. is this common? but all in all i love her. its fan bloodie tastic. :)
