Had Jamex coilover's on my Mk3, very crashy, bouncy & hard, can't see the Mk2 set up being much different as the cars overall weight is very similar. Was glad when I changed the suspension to a better manufacturer.

CatB1, You write that it is hard. Is it not too hard, how it is working example on speedbumps?

hi donka,
really all the cheaper coilovers are gonna be more or less the same, won't have the best ride quality, but most people buy them just to drop their cars, and for that reason you cannot fault them, i have TA Technix (hottuning ones) and the ride is good for the price, never gonna be as good as KW Variant 3's or Bilstein PSS9's (but they cost £1000+)

on the flip side here :D
Ive got some of the budget coilovers on the front of mine, and i have to say i am VERY impressed.
I went from FK Highsport coilovers to these and i would honestly choose the budget ones over the FKs :D
i am however using the budget coilovers with the FK springs, as the springs provided with the shocks were for a mk4 polo so not realllllly the right spring rate tbh...

I lowered it most of the way down initially thinking it was about the right height... it was far too low though, but... when it was 'slammed' the ride was horrendous, really bumpy, like a boat on wter too... but when i raised it to th same height it was on the FKs the ride is awesome, not bumpy or crashy, holds round corners im very impressed... heres how low it is now:

and as i say when it was VERY low before the ride was awful...
when i say very low... i mean it ws around 20 / 30mm lower than it is there

food for thought any way :D

well donka, like we all said, they are all the same (the cheaper range of coilovers) and most are made by the same company, but different branding added on

myself i have Hottuning ones, but they are dropped really low, so my ride isn't the best (less strut travel) but they are still quite good

but if you put them at a higher there is more travel of the strut, so can help (but then again the helper spring is then compressed more)

I am another one on the forum who has the hottuning/Ta Technix coilovers and I am impressed with them aswell and think they are good for the price of them.

I couldnt justify spending £400+ for a set of coilovers for my 1.4 so I went for the Ta Technix after alot of good reviews from people using them on there own mk2s and being really impressed with them.

helper spring is irrelevant with coilovers ;) it doesnt do anything but stop the spring moving around when jacked up... it does nothing when driving but compress fully

damn straight mate, i am considering loosing mine too :)
just crap :p lol

Hi, sorry not been on here for a while. The front end (Jamex) spring & dampers did not seem to be matched to the back end. Without being rude to the manufacturer, they were absolutely awful & not worth the money. I have gone for another budget brand, AP, after my son had them fitted to his Lupo Gti, a total contrast to Jamex. These ride speed bumps far easier, the damping & spring rates seem just perfect for me (no complaints from Mrs with these, it got to the point where we would not go out in the car with the Jamex). When my Mk2 Cupra suspension is worn out it will also be replaced with AP.

Just out of interest, has anyboby got positive feedback about Jamex on a Mk2.
