Looks terrific that does mate. Some very good mods gone into it, vRS spiders might have been done time and time again but who cares when they look that good!

Is it me though or is your (Milltek?) backbox a little short?

Cheers mate apreciate it! More mods to come hopefully just need to let bank accout recover from the last month or so of modding lol!
Exhaust is a milltek but looks different because its a pre facelift system so doesnt stick out as far i quite like it at the moment might change it eventually, didnt expect to be getting the bumpers when i bought it.

Give me my car back!!! Haha, It looks spot on mate :)

Can help but think that it needs some nice shiney silver calipers behind the front wheels

You dont want it back! Lol! Looks spot in now wheels and lights totally change it again!
You would like it if it had some shiny silver brakes wouldnt you, i dont think i'll bother with brakes for now to be honest as it stops ok at the moment!

That's why I never fitted my 312mm setup, standard brakes are fine for me

Turbo Gone

Hi all,
Have had a bit of a bad week, started on wednesday i went to prept at brands hatch with some mates and on the way home my mate noticed sparks coming out of my exhaust and the turbo had started whining so i knew the turbo had given up.

So me and a friend stripped the car down today, when we removed the turbo we found that the cold side or intake side of the turbo had let go which meant there was a chance of some metal having gone into the engine so i decided to remove the cylinder head as well to check for damage, the head seems fine but i will be stripping it down and cleaning it, found some metal deposits in one of the bores and there is also a very light score in the same bore but not anything to be worrying about thankfully cacked my pants when i first saw it though lol!

Heres some pics i took today:

I intend to replace the turbo with a gt28r roller bearing turbo so i can acheive 240ish hp and not be stressing the turbo too much.

But thats a long way off at the moment but will keep this thread updated with my progress and pictures as i go along repairing it and insatlling the big turbo!

Good stuff and then bad stuff man.

When my turbo packs it in im gonna go big turbo. Save her from the scappage!

Cheers mate definatley some bad stuff at the moment but should be awesome when its done big turbo definately better than hybrids get a decent bearing and the turbo wont work as hard.
Just hope your turbo goes on the exhaust side so it dont damage anything really lol!

You would not like a wastegated GT28RS in your TDI, except you are going high rpm drag race only....

And for 240hp you will need to change PD nozzles and intercooler.

Regards, Alex

Good luck with the upgrade mate, at least you can do the work yourself. Are you going for the Seat Sport intercooler?

Cheers mate, going to be doing all the work myself with a bit of help from some friends. Dobt know what intercooler i will use yet most likely to be totally custom lol!

Hi all, daft question as learning as I am going along. What benefit do you get from ugrading the boost pipes? Thanks

The benefits to upgrading the boost pipes are some of the stabdard pipes are very restrictive, the origibal pipes can break when you up the boost and it helps the airflow to upgrade the size of the boost pipe!

just wondering where you got your boost guage from mate? and how easy was it to install?

I got my boost gauge off ebay, then i took when of the air vents apart and cut a ring of mdf to fit inside the vent and bored out the 52mm hole for the gauge in it painted black and glued ut into the vent. Then i just had to run a boost pipe to it and i used the wires from the back of the headunit to power it! Took a long time but wasnt to difficult.

Cheers guys

Ordered up my new turbo today and all the bits to go with it will get some pics when i get it.
Cylinder head is back on and its all timed up. Slowy getting there at the moment hopefully get it on the road again in a few weeks time.

Quite a bit bigger than before just working on the exhaust manifold at the moment but should be finished this week hopefully. Then i just need to sort out the intercooler pipes and a oil feed and drain pipe and the water ways into the turbo so not too much to do lol!
