Hi Guys,

Been a long time lurker on these forums and though it was about time I made one of these for my car.

After owning a 1.4 sport (100bhp) for a year I decided I wanted something with a bit more grunt and set about searching for either a petrol or diesel Ibiza Cupra.

After viewing a fair few I came across an 04 tdi in yellow which was in fairly good condition and for the right price of £3000. After pulling some mods off my old ibiza before I sold it the modding began straight away on the new beast.

This is what it looks like currently

Here are a few more pictures over the past 2 years

My tarox 6 pot brake kit

After just over a year of ownership the modlist has grown quite rapidly:

Engine/Performance

Turbo Dynamics MDX515 Hybrid
Remapped to (227bhp 365lbft)
Full Miltek Turbo Back (Non Res, Decat)
Tarox 6 pot brake kit (bleed screw snapped in my AP calipers :( )
Darkside hard pipework kit
Darkside EGR delete
S2000 air filter
Bilstein B14 Coilovers

Exterior

6000k HID kit H7R
Rhino Lip
LED number plate lights
Pressed Plates
Honeycomb front grills
Honeycomb centre grill
Tinted tail lights
Sprayed rear badge black and removed 'CUPRA' badge
Colour matched side strips
Alloys powder coated black
Wide mouth front bumper
Bottom front bumper lip painted gloss black

Interior

LED interior lights
Vent mounted boost gauge
Android double din HU

Repairs

Replaced both front wings due to rusting
Replaced rear calipers due to seizing

Future Mods/Plans

Whiteline RARB
Rear 20mm spacers
Wrap roof in black
New Intercooler (mine is leaking...)

Bad points

New wings aren't the best colour match even though I took it to a very reputable place and paid a fair bit of money
Paint lacquor peeling on roof (soon to be wrapped)
Front bumper needs a repspray due to stone chips

Thanks for viewing :)

cheers guys, lots more work still to be done however funds do not permit atm :(

S2000 filter has been really good from my experience. Don't know if any performance gains are to be had really, but loving the deeper sound and the turbo flutter it gives ;)

The turbo 'sucking' sound can get a bit tiresome after a while cruising on the motorway but its a good trade off i think

Yeah experienced the sucking noise today on the motorway. It might be a deal breaker for me lol. Love the turbo flutter though so in two minds.

Fitted a miltek decat downpipe a week ago and the car is now chucking out a fair bit of blue smoke at low revs. Checked the turbo shaft on the exhaust side and there is a fair bit of play so oil must be leaking past the seals.

Decided to take the plunge and bought a new MDX515 stage 2 hybrid from turbo dynamics rather than wait for the stock turbo to go bang. Also bought a braided oil feed, 4 bar map sensor, new manifold gaskets and oil return gaskets. aiming for about 240bhp on stock injectors.

All parts should hopefully arrive this weekend and will go about fitting it all myself and then look at getting it remapped.

Does anyone know if I will be alright to run the car after fitting the turbo to take it to get remapped? It is currently running a remap on the stock turbo from awesome gti. Just don't want to run the risk of causing any damage to the new turbo after fitting it.

Stay tuned....

Back when I had my Ibiza Cupra tdi it was mapped by awesome. When the turbo went bang I got the stage 2 hybrid from turbo dynamics, I ran my hybrid for a few months on the awesome map while I sorted getting booked in RS tuning (which was place to go for hybrid mapping at the time, 7/8 years ago). It made 224 bhp 360 lbs/ft torque and was amazing to drive, all the torque pinned you to the seat.

Joes MK4 Yellow Ibiza Cupra TDI, Fitting Hybrid Turbo

I was running Turbo Dynamics md376 stage 2 outright hybrid turbo. A couple of years later Turbo Dynamics change the name of the turbo to md515 exactly the same spec as the md376. Then they release the mdx version don't difference with that.
That was the turbo maxed out on the supporting hardware I had, k&n panel filter, seat sport ic, allard egr delete power pipe and miltek decat turbo back exhaust.
For more power I was told I would have to change to uprated injectors.

Following this build thread now, good read was in a similar position that you are in a few weeks ago just having a hybrid turbo fitted. However I seeked mine from Xman turbo's seeing I know a lot of people running them around my area, look forward to seeing the progress of another Mk4 ☺

Pretty much the same spec as what mine currently has then :)

Just read through both of your builds, some really nice work on both your cars !

Looking forward to see what sort of power you get out of the turbo.

Cheers, I'm currently fitting a few new parts to my Leon.

How much are these turbos?

I paid £1370 for a brand new unit from turbo dynamics so quite expensive.

Pretty much finished it all after a hard days work, just the egr delete pipe and intake left to fit tomorrow morning and then start it up for the first time. Pretty nervous....

Good job I changed the turbo, my old one was in a right state. One of the exhaust blades was chipped badly and the compressor wheel was all chewed up on the front.

Will upload some pictures of how bad it was soon.
