Hi all,

I've acquired a NEW JR Panel Filter and as its not one of the more well known brands, can't decide if I should give it a try!

Obviously it should improve airflow but will it still be as effective at filtering as the standard (frequently replaced) paper filter.

Whats your views?

any performance filter is designed to perform better than a paper filter. the improve air flow, thus improving performance!

I agree!

What worries me is that it might not filter out the same amount of air impurities as the standard or any other performance filter.

I'am not expecting performance gains but would welcome an improvement in MPG

the only thing i can say is.........

"99% Maximum Filtration with 40% better airflow down to 2.8 microns!!! "

straight from the jr website. i'm not sure how big (or how small) 2.8 microns is compared to paper filters, but i'm a gullable consumer and willing to believe the blarg. if its better mpg your looking for, buy a bike for short journeys ! ha ha, only joking :D

I've run the same JR panel filter for over 9 years without a single problem in my 8v.

Just take it out and clean it every couple of years or so and then re-oil it (remembering to let the excess oil drain from the filter for a couple of days before you put it back in the car). If oil from the filter is drawn into the intake it can mess up the air mass meter.

Cheers Jason!

Thats good to hear! - I fitted it last night.

As expected I can't say theres any difference though it does seams to pull slightly smoother/stronger through the range!
