Judder on pulling away... & servicing near Reigate

Hi all

Although it's on long-term servicing, my Leon FR ACT 1.4 has reached 12000 miles and one year old. I have a couple of warranty issues (the rear wash/wipe weeps after use, creaking suspension and the 'rev-hunting' issue), but the dealer that I purchased from is no longer a SEAT franchise so I need to find a dealer to do the work.

Nearest are Kinghams in Croydon, Euro SEAT in Snow Hill and WJ King in Bromley. Any recommendations from anyone?

In the last few days, the car has also developed a pretty severe judder (enough to shake up anything in the storage bins) when pulling away after the car has been parked up for a while but nowhere near as bad (or none at all) after driving for a bit. Seems to come from the n/s front. Any ideas?

Many thanks

Rick

Mine has the same judder, similar mileage. No idea why, suspect it's clutch -related. Will be interested to hear what's caused yours.

I've been taking Mk2 to Crawley Down SEAT (now Euro SEAT) for a few years.

I had a bad experience with them with a Renault Megane that I had before, but I'm happy with the work they do on my Mk2 Leon. I think Euro SEAT have managed to keep on most of the same staff, so I'll carry on taking both Leons to them (I still have my Mk2 and a new Mk3).

I have the 1.4 ACT with 15000 miles and have started to notice the juddering problem. Its not severe but along with an annoying creaky clutch (and a crunchy sensation) when in stop start traffic (which they can't seem to fix) I want a new clutch!

Quick question if anyone knows, how expensive hard is it to replace the slave cylinder on the clutch?

Avoid lifestyle Brighton. Seer my other posts for why. Switched to cdg at Copthorne, excellent. Owners decided to seek out and now bought by JCB group (not the digger people) a privately owned large group in the south east. Waiting to use them in October when next service is due but also heard they have retained staff.

Thanks guys. By chance I've just received a 10% voucher for Euro SEAT at Crawley so will give them a go. Problem will be that the clutch judder only happens from cold so won't be seen at the dealer!

Taran - thanks for the advice, but Sidcup is just a bit too far!

I'm not too far from Reigate and have the same issue of no dealers left! Croydon isn't actually a SEAT dealer, well it seems to be a specialist approved by SEAT. Not my fancy... I can only recommend SMC SEAT Woking (not great, but it'll do).

Let us know how you get on Tom. Since I started trying to video the judder it hasn't happened again!

Chaps, I have started to experience the clutch judder now aswell. I appreciate this thread was a few months ago but did any of you have the clutch changed under warranty?

Any1 else with the 1.4 ACT experienced this issue?

Mine cleared up within 50 miles and I haven't felt it for a couple of months now!

I had clutch judder on my mk2 when I first got it, was told it was the DMF... it was replaced under warranty along with a new clutch and has been excellent since.

You can usually tell if it's the DMF if it makes a rattling noise in neutral and then the noise disappears when pushing the clutch pedal down. Lots of cars have issues with DMFs going bad as the springs that damp the two masses wear out and loosen causing them to slop around. This can then make pulling away feel juddery as the torque spikes that the DMF is supposed to damp out are no longer damped properly
