Hey guys, wondering if you can help me. For the last 2 weeks my Arosa has been struggling to accelerate, when i put my foot down it jumps and holds back, i have had this before but it was sorted with a spark plug change but i dont know whats wrong this time.
Any suggestions?
thanks
Known issues on petrols are dodgy oil pumps, but this doesn't sound like that.
Check all your connections are good (plugs to leads/coilpacks etc...). If so it may be worth getting it checked by someone with VAGCOM as otherwise it could be anything (air leak on induction side / throttle body - accelerator issue - are these DBW?).
Yep its a petrol 1.4, its serviced regularly was only done a couple of months ago and i have recently had my timing altered which made it nippy as anything but its recently gone down hill. I have a feeling it might be a bad batch of petrol, im going to see about it tonight and see what happens
Ive thought about that but when my dad did it last his car drove like a brick for ages afterwards,i dont want a slow car its had a new filter recently too.
My dad did the timing but hes a mechanic which is rather useful
I hope its just the petrol ive jus recently lost my job and cant afford to fix it
Mine did that when I first got it. When you're cruising at a constant speed it almost feels like it cuts out the power for a second and refuses to accelerate.
Whip off the airbox and the throttle body comes off with about 4 bolts. It's a 20minute job just to give it a wipe down and make sure everything's connected. Should be even quicker than that if your dad's a mechanic!
Sorted it I think looked at the air filter and it was covered in oil and yellow gunge eeewww! one of the pipes was blocked, so I unblocked it and replaced the filter and it seems like its running better but its not fully back to its nippy self but it will do for now it did my head in at the weekend trying to get up 100 miles worth of hills when all it wanted to do was go backwards down them haha, thanks for the suggestions guys
mac83, where was your signature photo taken i seem to recognise the road and your registration?
That was taken on the way over to Weardale in December.
Where in the North East are you? I've seen a couple of Arosa's that are the same colour as mine and have R...HTN on the plate!
I live not far from where your photo is taken, round about Stanhope Area, i have a feeling that you have followed me before. I might be mistaken like if theres a few HTN's around though
Im always driving around Weardale, Newcastle or Durham area in my little Rosa, you cant miss it hehe
