Hi there
I also drive a 1.6 16v S and it has been a fantastic car for the 18 months i have owned it.A word of warning,do not fit a freeflow exhaust, keep the standard one as the freeflow has a terrible droning inside the cabin about 60mph.Otherwise a great car alround and that boot is huge.

Good luck with the car, sounds good. I drive a 1.4S, the handling is pretty amazing on these for a bottom of the range family car. I used to drive an Octavia vRS mk1, and it wasn't too much of a come down at all, except in terms of boost of course.

The things to fit are CD/Fogs/curvy wing mirrors which all came on the last spec up with the 's' range in 2005.

Watch out for the know problems, like water in footwell, brake light switch packing up, boot lid jamming. Other than that its a solid and smart car

Just picked up my (pretty much brand new) Leon 1.6S :)

I know it's no cupra - and I wanted one desperately, but the insurance quotation on me was a nightmare, and at twice the price (for a decent one) I figured i'll just go for a sensible alternative :D

She's only got 22,000 on the clock and has only had one previous owner ('sensible female driver' too - so she's definitely not been abused)

Rather smart silver colour, but she's completely standard. Thought i'd lower her a couple of cm and put some cupra r alloys on it (just because the standard ones are a bit plain).

Anyone else driving the 1.6S? Anyone driven them before getting their cupra?

Anyway, first post thought i'd say hi ;)

+1 to the non turbo crew :p

I've got a 1.6 sx and as far as i'm concerned it's an ace car. Might have more to do with the fact that my only other car was a metro :]

Goodluck with the car, good going leon to start with before upgrading to a higher spec model.

Ive done a lot of work to mine over the last year including, FK coilovers, bastuck cat back exhaust, chipped, BMC CDA, rear debadged and RS6 alloy wheels.

1.6s Owner too. Actually bought it last March but have been recently addicted to these forums!

Already done a few changes

  • Headunit change to Sony MEX-BT5000
  • Tyre change to Pirelli P6000 (although not a smart move seeing some on the threads on here)
  • Front Areo blades, kept hook rails

Spending far to much time on here becuase i want to get done

  • Flip Key conversion
  • Fabia Rear Wiper
  • H7 HID Conversion (6k i think???)
  • Honda Aerial Conversion
  • De-badge
  • Change of alloys from the standard Seat ones!

So much to do and so little time! i want it all done yesterday!

Leon's are awsome!

Excellent debadge job too!

Anyone else driving the 1.6S?

Welcome to the 1.6S club!

I too drive a 1.6S in Silver.

My first bit of advice is to check the door seals, washer pipe in the boot and the boot lock :)

(PS. Maybe I should have checked the date this thread started before I posted :p)
