Hello all, I just bought my first ever Seat, a 2000 Leon 1.8 20v (not t) which has done about 130.000km and has a lot of dealer stamps in the service book. I got a good price on it, or so I hope, taking into consideration the faults i know of.

Thanks to what I've learned from seatcupra.net and other resources on the net I so far believe that the car is basically sound. In case anyone wondered, it's the "magic black", it has a power plug in the boot, aura stereo + cd changer, abs but not TC, retractable mirrors, AC, seat warmers.

It has sat without license plates since last fall, when it failed the periodical test because of rusty front brakes and one of the tail lights not working. Also, while it tracks straight and it seems to turn quite well, the steering wheel is at a few degrees offset when going straight ahead. Last, but not least, the stereo has gone into lock mode and I don't have the code. (I didn't steal it, honest)

The lights and tracking are what concerns me the most. I'll have the discs and pads changed on all four corners, as I like being able to stop at will. I'll get the previous owner to produce the code, or I might even get rid of the whole set and replace it for something a bit more modern (bluetooth + minijack).

It was raining when I picked up the car today, and I noticed water/condensation inside the lights on the boot lid, so my hope is that it's just a simple electrical fix in or near this light casing. I'm going to poke around with my voltmeter tomorrow and see what I can find.

As for the brakes and tracking, I'm going to let a garage look into that. And the lights if I can't figure out what's going on. I don't know my way around a car except from behind the wheel, and besides, when it comes to selling the car again, I'd like to keep the good service history going up to that point. Hopefully the car deserves it.

So there, a little rant about my new baby! Please do let me know if you have any information or comments! I've only driven the car for an hour, can't wait to get to know her better.

Thank you! No pics yet, it desperatly needs a good cleaning and polish anyway. Looks like someone reversed it into a hedge or something at some point, as the rear bumper is quite scratched, other than that it's very nice and clean (as far as I can tell under the dirt!)
