Hope you guys can help, as im sure you have all seen on the news at the mo in the south east there is big trouble with certain batchs of fuel. Anyway i have been puttin off filling up till the problem was sorted. I was forced to fill up today and decided to give the old girl a present and fill up with a tank of V-Power super unleaded from shell. All was fine to start , bout 10 mins down the road the engine management light came on. Im now worried it could be this s**t fuel that is going round!

any1 else has this problem? Or could it have been caused by using the super unleaded as i normally just use the basic cheaper unleaded stuff?

any help would be great!

cheers:cry:

was your car setup up to run on high octane such as 99ron or set up for low grade fuel such as 95ron? As far as im aware shell wasn't affected by the dodgey fuel, im in the south east too and iv filled up in a couple of shell garage no problem!

No it does not matter if you switch from one to the other as we have an adapable ecu. Get it on vag com. Suspect its just coincidence!

It does if your car has been re-mapped as they set the map up to what fuel you use.

Yes but as he didn't know what set up to run on it means I assumed he didn't have a map. Also as he had actually filled up with vpower it wouldn't b that setting off the engine management light. Putting 95 ron fuel in a car mapped to run 97 or higher on occasion/emergency won't actually do too much, you just won't get the performance and it wont run as well as it should.

He said he'd filled up with vpower. Like I said its prob just a coincidence that its come on. I have the same prob with mine...fix one thing and another light pops up, switch needs looking at, sensor needs changing etc.

Right my car is now all fixed! Took my car to the dealer yesterday and the fault was a O2 sensor , got it back and it ow seems a lot faster , the pick up is quicker and also its now boosting more than it did b4. Is it likely that my car had quite a few minor faults that didnt turn the engine management light on? Much more fun now tho!
