In answer to your first question, You will never get all your bits for £500, it all adds up, you need LCR tip and maf, bam exhaust mani, k04 (obv) 4bar fpr, bam injectors (or 380cc aftermarket), front mount, air/fuel gauge, im using a 2.5 in qpeng downpipe for mk2 golf (looks the nuts) i was planning a budget conversion but the list is endless! ive spent way over a grand already and im still not there! Then its gonna be £650 for stage 3 CC.

Should be worth it in the end!
 
A hybrid k03s is what you need like the am04/jbs04. Its k04 internals in a k03s housing. So you get k04 compressor wheel possibly clipped in a k03s housing possibly milled out etc.

An E05 was one of the first hybrid k03s and was unreliable but people have learnt from that so what you can get now is alot different.
 
well begs the question really, should i stay or should i go??? K04 is out of the question if its gonna cost the same as an eliminator. but if i have to spend 1000-1500 then its such a drag and so tempting to just get rid
 
I would keep it, you just know it would be so satisfying with a bt.
I would keep all your old bits though, that way if you get bored you can return it to standard, sell the car and then the bt to me ;)

Whats wrong with a proper k03s hybrid?
Havent there been some reliability problems with the gt2x long term use. I thought some of the guys on vortex were having some issues.

am04 and jbs04 are proper k03s hybrids but as you said either unobtainable or expensive. Just because they are the only k03s hybrids you know about doesnt not mean they are the only options! I looked at a couple of places in the USA that do hybrid k03s for a very good price but fitment and the actual spec etc would have to be certified and their gain vs cost considered.
 
And why buy from them when you can gt direct from the ATP site for less. Its still going to cost considerably more than the original budget mentioned aswell.
