mate picked his k1 up this week, brought it down for me to have a test drive, very very nice. black with black wheels, it is going for a remap and lowered next week

Build week 18 so mid june-ish for me. On the subject of the kit I went down to see a k1 at my local dealer and have seen the problem. Where the rear bumper joins to the wheel arch it is proud by around a 1/4 inch. No noticeable really unless you are really on the lookout. Granted this was a black one and will probably stand out more on white ones. As phnates said dealers can get it "near perfect" and don't accept anything less. However the rear bumper won't be 100% flush.
It is poor, granted, but it's so minor I can live with it.

well im glad RS4Barry has now kept his mouth quiet, half of me thinks he was a bloody troll and looking at his post count i think i could be right.

can we please have some pics asap as i would love to have some decent quality pics of the K1

What are you blethering on about? I was simply stating I wasn't happy with the fitment of the kit - and to a certain degree still not. It's going back into the dealers for a 3rd go. I have now seen around 6-8 K1's and it has become obvious that the acceptable standards at port when the car leaves are nowhere near what we would expect.

I did and as much as I hate to say it the K1 kit is a pretty cheap body kit. It is not made by Seat but by MS Design it's of lower quality than the standard bumpers. The tabs where the bumper joins the car at each side (a slide fit affair) are of appalling quality and on the cars I've looked at very little care has been taken when fitting. (one side of mine burst from day one) My bumpers are a different colour in certain light to the rest of the car but this is a seat thing I think as I've seen this on standard candy cars too.
Believe me if I wasn't one of the 50% that liked the look of the K1 - I'd have been pushing for my standard bumpers back.
But I love the look of the car and have now gone to considerable expense to have a one off exhaust and downpipe made (to accomodate the K1's central exit) so I'll be making damn sure mine gets sorted. If that means new bumpers then so be it.

after speaking to seat uk about this problem they were aware that there was a problem and have said that all K1's from now on should have proper fitting bumpers. Also i dont think its just seat with poor fitment i was looking at audi s line yesterday and the gap between the body and the bumper was also slightly off also looking round other cars in the gym car park there are quite alot of bad fits if you want to be really critical.

I agree I'm certainly pushing for new bumpers now. Can't be arsed with the car being off the road again.

Your posts are very harsh given you don't own one of these cars.

Interestingly for those of you who all bought a MK3 Ibiza Cupra from new, I'm sure a few of you will remember similar issues, mainly in the colouring side of things. For your benefit adam1.4biza, the front and rear of the Cupras were fitted in the UK and my car had a slightly different colour of paintwork, as was found by many others.
