hi all

can any one tell me if the leon k1 is good on long journey mpg then the st our vxr

and would it be good on remapping and mods our worse

comments welcome

Don't know about the VXR but my remapped Cupra with an induction kit gets 37mpg no problems on a long run, my mate had a focus ST and it only got 27-28mpg on a run and it was standard!

my wife wants a tdi but i think you are not going to get the tip of power fron a petrol in a tdi but if i can get good mpg in a k1 as i do long journeys put keep cost doen then she will late me

VXR would be no better on fuel than a Cupra. Cupra will be faster though.

Just swapped my Zaf VXR for a 140TDI and the Zafira has the same engine as the Astra VXR, at 70mph with cruise control set i still only used to average 30mpg max! Havent had the Leon long enough to monitor yet but i can guarantee ill be ALOT cheaper to run!

oh right cool think it will be a tdi fr with btcc kit then to save money will look at the mods side off life now

The Cupra is going to be better on a run than the FR in some cases though as the turbo spools up later in the rev range therefore using less fuel until it does.

My K1 which is standard.. gets between 23-25MPG around town and i've had a steady 35 MPG at Mway speeds. All down to how you drive them I suppose.

I only have a 5 min journey to work, with lots of short local runs too and when i am on a longer run, i have to strecth its legs a little, so i see on average 18-22mpg, about 200miles per tank! But with power of Stage 2+ it does tend to drink more than before.

yer that was the problem with the st will after long and hard talking to the wife we are going to try and get a Leon fr tdi with btcc kit and do some mods that is the only way to balance the two fun and cheap to run

i rented a vxr for new year eve last year and average 27mpg on a 120 mile trip to wales not good only at cruzing speed as well, i've never drove a st before but figures suggest that you will struggle to get more than 30mpg on a run, i would cupra would be most fuel effecient when driven sensibly of course

cupra is in a different league to vxr and st when all are mapped, st has bad issues with the intercooler when mapped and they map to around 280, vxrs stage 2 are around same i think, but the cupra goes to well some on here have them at 380

i used to have an astra vxr before i bought the leon.....used to get around 27mpg round town, and 33-36 mpg on a good motorway run......now in the Fr i get 43 driving round town and 50+ on the motorway...it amazing!! lol if' you're going to get a new CR leon fr tdi, then get a tuning box and power wise you won't be too far off cupra's vxr's etc....
