Foxy got a full mechanical inspection tonight. No other damage showing so it's looking up. Have to pay credit to VAG's, never knew how strong built they were until now. If that had been a Saxo it would have crumpled!!

I guess Foxy is like her owner, strong headed.

Looking forward to getting a repair and getting back on the road.

FFS what is going on with the SEAT owner's luck at the moment? Sorry to see this Kat :(

Hope you get her sorted in no time. Some silly bints should not be on the road!

If you manage to hit anything and you have parking sensors you do not deserve a license I say.

Goes in two weeks today and they said if everything goes to plan will take 3-4 days. Tom I was utterly devastated when I seen it, and doubted I would know who it was but I am so lucky they were honest.

They admitted they were looking in their reversing camera but not the mirrors. Poor Foxy :( I cried the whole night!

Chin up lady, these things happen to test us an all that.

Yeah, it's not just a scrape, it's quite a bit of money to sort so glad I'm not paying!

Picked the best bodyshop so should be good as new once back. Just hope the paint matching is ok! I did stress to them that it was resprayed just a year ago.

Fingers crossed for Foxy! :(

Is she going to the same place where you had the respray done? Fingers crossed it will match up fine.

Great that you're not paying, but hassle nonetheless.

Sadly no, they are not trading anymore due to one of them passing away suddenly a few months ago. Yeah, will wait and see! I won't hesitate to go back with it if I find it's not right.

Yeah, just a bit of an inconvenience really.

Sorry to hear about this Kat, can imagine how gutted you are.

You're lucky you got to pick the bodyshop though, when mine got hit last year I had no choice but use my insurance company's "approved repair center", which turned out to be Arnold Clark. They took three weeks to completely screw it up, then another one to get it looking acceptable. Even now when washing it I can see imperfections in the paintwork, it looks worse than it did after the impact.

Thanks Niall. Thankfully I pay a slightly higher more to have my insurance through a broker, so I do get a better service. They do all the leg work, I haven't had to even make one phone call other than the one to them to say my car had been hit, where they then took over.

They called her insurance and said it would be going to Kinghorn and that's that. Without Youngson's of Turriff who knows where my car would end up going! Your average female might not care, but I do. Then again, I'm no average female!

While I can't see how they got the quote to £2000,

For your sake and the body shops, don't wax the car anymore, don't use any gels, tyre dressing, sealants or silicones anywhere on the car, infact it's best to start stripping the front end, and the wheels of silicones now with tfr, other wise the bodyshop could run into issues with reactions and fish eyes,

What are they replacing/repairing

I don't either, it seems so much considering I got all the previous work done for £1500.

The actual insurance estimate states that if all is well it will be a new bonnet, wing and headlight. The front bumper they won't know if a new one is needed until they strip the front end.

Thanks for that advice Jake, will do that :) I did stress to them that I'm a keen detailed and the car has a good few sealant coats on it.

If its over inflated the ins engine will drag the price back into line,

They will in that case be doing

New wing blend the door for colour, new bonnet blend passenger wing for colour and repair and paint the front bumper, if anything maybe a wing guide too,

Red is very metermeric so can look of under sodium(street lighting) so bare that in mind, also most paint companies state no wax for up to 6 weeks after fresh paint, and don't worry if your sent away and recalled for a final polish. We now send customers out gun finish then call them back in to give the paint a final flat and polish once it's rock hard, even though we bake the paint.

Just make sure there going to use basecoat and blend it accordingly.

I was with Aviva when I got hit but through a broker called Need 2 Insure. I made the mistake of just going straight to Aviva, maybe I should have gone to Need2Insure first and done it that way. Oh well, if it happens again I'll be outright refusing to use Arnold Clark, they're almost worse than useless.

You're right about not being an average female too, they're usually a little taller :p

Engineer??

The bumper maybe mis shaped if its received a impact like that. If its just a scuff then yeah your right they would just spray. But I know insurance places iv used replaced everything damaged or stuffed for new OEM parts, even my arch lines ffs
