Hi all,

I’ve had a 2024 Formentor for about 8 weeks, low mileage etc.

I have 2 persistent issues though:

1. The seatbelt warning keeps coming up when I’ve got it in. No matter what.

2. Every so often, when I brake the car keeps going into park mode and tells me the car will switch off in 30 seconds. It happened the first week I had it and it mostly happens in car parks. I’ve had it at a roundabout and at a set of lights too and it take me 5/6 times of turning the car off and on trying to accelerate to get it to move. It’s happened 2/3 times in the past couple of days. It’s starting to worry me as it’s very unsafe, especially if I’m not in a car park. I was in one yesterday and I was stuck in the middle of the car park road for 5 minutes trying to get it to move. It jolts too so I’m worried one day I might bump something.

any help would be great! I’ve turned off the auto park and whatever park assist feature was on the infotainment system. I haven’t turned off the parking sensors though.

Cheers

Sounds like the sensor in the seat belt clasp is defective.

Book in with your local dealership to investigate the issue ASAP.

I have this happening, but its intermittent - its in the garage at the moment and they cant find anything as it isnt happening for them. I get in the car, select drive or reverse as appropriate - go to move off and the car just switches itself back to park. Has happened at low speed at a roundabout and junction too. Did you get an answer ? Garage says that they can only replicate it when not wearing the seatbelt and says its a safety feature, but I know the car drives without a seatbelt as Ive dont it a few times in carparks and had to put up with the warning sounds - thanks in advance

The vehicle will default to park and apply the parking brake if you:

Don't wear your seat belt
Whilst driving under 5mph
And you lift your weight off the load sensor

If you keep your weight firmly on the sensor but don't wear your belt then you can bypass it, though why you would is beyond me.

Thanks James

If I have been driving for 10 minutes and approach a roundabout (seatbelt on and has been on for the entire journey) it shouldn't happen then though right ?

Agreed, that shouldn't trigger the parking brake or put the vehicle into park.
