Key fob problems

hi guys i'm new to the forum, i have had problems with my key fob since i have had the car.its a 02 plate Ibiza and it locks and unlocks sometimes when it feels like it, i could be standing and it wont lock then it works, same when unlocking. what can i do to fix this? any idea please?

Hi, I had a similar problem on a Ford Galaxy (same key fob). It turned out to be the fob itself. Even tho' the wee red light flashed when I pressed the button, the fob has a different set of contacts which send the signal & these had worn out. I got another fob on ebay, reprogrammed it & that was that.sorted.

Yeah batterys have been changed work a couple of times then went the same way but how much does it cost to reprogram?

i just had the same problem if its not worked since replacing the batteries have you reprogrammed it

put key in ignition.
turn on for 5 secs max
take key out
press and hold lock button on key.
press other button 3 times in succession within 10 secs.
release held button.
led on key should flash 5 times
central locking either locks or locks/unlocks to confirm programming.
exit programming mode by turning on ignition.

try that it should also tell you in your book similar or the same way....

Clean the battery conections, sounds like its making contact sometimes but not always, wee spot of contact cleaner into the push buttons might also help
