Key locking problem

Good evening fellow SCNers,

The car no longer responds to car key lock button presses (my god this is hard to discribe lol). Now logic would say that the battery has run out however the little red led is flashing still on the key which is throwing me.

I now lock the car manually and unlock the car manually. What is concerning me is the alarm is not disengaging when I open the car so I have to rush quickly to put the key in the ignition to stop alarm from going mental.

What am i doing wrong and could it be another problem i.e. no just the key battery????

Have you checked the fuses and do the windows still work?

Check the circuit board in the key fob, they are a known problem

Do you know what fuses are at fault in particular?

How would I check the circuit board...will there be visible signs of damage?

You might see a dodgy solder joint.

Have you tried replacing the battery, easiest thing to start with for £2 as the battery can power a small bulb easily but hasnt got enough to power for the remote operating possibly

Be a joint i bet, especially if the light is illuminating.

Hi peeps.

Right I replaced the battery however still the same problem. I looked at the circuit board but no obvious signs of damage. Help!?

Guess I need a new key?
