Key question

Is it right that with the Ibiza 1.4 Sport you get one remote key & one plain old normal one?

Sorry for a silly question but it's something i wanted to know

Yup they cut the costs somewhere. Electric folding mirrors but one remote key. Bizzare.

I seem to recall that with old Fiat's you had the red key fob for general use and the blue for emergencies and I remember Mike Brewer saying on a show that if they have the blue only walk away, this was because it's the spare and they have most likely knicked it during a burglary and the car is hot. Same advise here, 1 key fob, simple spare key, if they have this for sale and no fob, chances are it's hot. That's how I treat it. Also, doesn't opening the car via key only allow you to drive the car in limp mode and for a limited milage? Don't ask where I read it, could have been on this forum.

Disclaimer: I may be totally wrong, take what I have said with a pinch of salt. On the other hand, I could have a point.

No mate second key works as the first. Only thing you have to do is if the car was locked with a remote and you open with the key you have to turn the ignition on within 10 seconds or the alarm goes off.

Second remote locking key is £200+ which includes the key (of course) and the pairing of the key to the Car. You need the original key number.
We both will be driving and its a pain not having the remote locking facility on the key.

Doesnt have to be started, just ignition on. Its just in case someone pops a door lock out then turns the mech behind with a screw driver or something, so the alarm will go off.

And you can get another remote key from your dealer, all you need is the V5 and proof of ID and they willorder you one. A small charge will be required to code it but Im sure if you were getting a new car you could wangle a deal.

Ahhh right thanks for that. We picked the car up on friday, I was surprised about the one key thing, something i'd never thought about to be honest.

Do you have a rough idea on the price & charge for the recode? I noticed AJSandersons post above yours - £200 + then the coding on top. Is that about the going price then from the dealer?

The extra £££ is a bit of a stretch atm, am living off student loans til July

I saw that program and IIRC the red key is the only key that can be cloned, so if you lose the blue key its a whole new set of locks making fiats of that age a write off.

well just a remote key, not necessarily a flick key. two of us use the car with seperate keys for other things but we're sharing one bunch atm & it's a PITA

I would be very interested to know an exact price to as its a bit of a pain for me and my other half, one to have the remote key and the other having the spare. He cant seem to be able to get in the boot with the spare key, which is a pain.

Hi - SEAT garage price is £230 inculsive of VAT for the key and the coding. But I managed to get £30 off

Thanks AJ, £230 is over budget for me just yet. We have resorted to sharing one bunch of keys for now, still a PITA
