Just bought a 2001 y reg leon, missing the remote key, anyone had to replace or ordered an extra one? How much were they?

 not really the same thing though! I think the VW flip keys are typically around £160 or so last time I asked for my mum's VW. Its like 1 hours labour @ £80, the key @ ~£5, the key remote unit @ ~£55 and the blade holder @ £20 or something. That was for the flip style key.

Dont quote me on those prices! You'd hope it would be around £100 or so for a none flip remote key from Seat

well i had the standard old boring key for my leon, then decided to go for the flip type all in all cost me around £25 incl cutting. not bad...........

Well where shall i start from....... go to your local dealer and ask them you are looking for a flip style key and they will look on there system and give you a quote. (my quote was in the reigon of £140 + programming) i got the quote print with the key number on and did a search on e-bay to find the exact key num printed on the sheet from the dealer.

Got mine for around £25ish got the key (i was lucky as i have a friend who is a locksmith and he charged me nothing for the cutting) should be no more than £10 - £15 if that.

Once you got all that done needs programming to the car do a search on here a there a loads of links. (i got my programming guide from here)

once all that done (got key cut programmed to car) you then just swap the transponder over from your old key to the new one and bobs ur uncle :funk:

Hope this helps
