Knocking noise whilst braking???

Hello

Recently I've driven to work no problems at all, left it parked up for a week and then went to drive back home. As soon as I started braking there was a loud knocking noise every revolution of the wheel it seems. It still persists at speeds above 40mph but nowhere near as bad as it was. Can't really tell what corner it is coming from but is it possible the break pads need replacing? Only done 12k miles and not really any heavy braking and I also thought they'd come with auto wear sensors.

Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks

go for a proper drive including some hard braking and clean the discs and pads up.

My guess is it will just be some crap on the surface of the discs after sitting for a week. Also did you leave the handbrake on? Again some of the pad material gets stuck to the disc in this situation.
