Right, I'm now wishing that i'd bought a Scooby. my N75 is plumbed as follows: middle port to actuator, long one to tip, short one to charge. If you follow that black pipe that runs from the top of the inlet manni, through the N/R valve and come to a t piece just below where Danny's N75 is in the picture. I have plumbed the Combi valve here cos i don't know where it's meant to go.
my plumbing has been simplified to try and identify any issues.
It's now: FRP to manni. other manni nipple to d/v via black and white check valve. (the boost gauge is t-pieced into this line). N75 to charge, actuator and tip. the t-piece that i described earlier is linked to combi valve.
I've now hit limp mode, and i'm fuming. I wish i'd never bought this car.
I'm in Barnsley, if anyone is nearby so i can take a look at theirs, or try their n75 or even MAP sensor.
I've checked as many pipes as i can see and have found no splits.

I appreciate how much you guys are trying to help. If any of you lot send me your mobile number i'll send you a picture of what i've done so far. Don't have much of a clue about computers, so i don't know how to upload pictures. I'll send them MMS.
Thanks again,

why didnt you just take it to a VAG specialist and get them to log it and run checks over it?

like awesome GTI etc, save you wasting money on buying parts which may not be the actual cause

update: after reading some old posts, i blocked off the N75 for a quick test run. i made about 15psi of boost before it starts to hesitate and misfire- but maybe that's a coil. maybe the n75 is a major part of the fault here, but i'm not sure it's the only one!

update further: new n75 is on, but it doesn't look the same as the one i've just removed. it's a grey one with 2 black plastic pipes at one end and a stainless one at the other.bigger and heavier than the valve i've just removed, vag dealer said it's still a n75 from a 1.8 20v turbo and will do the exact same job. it looks like the ones of the leons (225?). Anyway, car boosts freely to 15-16 psi before hesitating to a misfire. next job will be coils i think. i have noted that the vac pipe from actuator to n75 has not been fastened on with hose clamps. will this be ok? thanks fro listening to my moaning

i can best describe it as holding at 15 psi but with a constant rapid misfire. car just splutters, almost vibrating and holding back. been looking for a pic of my new n75 on leon forum, but can't see one!

try it mate, usually ive always found when they go, the goldy colour connection in the coil pack goes darker than a working one if that makes sense just pop them out and have a look
