everything seems fine mate, thats when the 16 valve engine kicks in at about 3,500 revs onwards. where as the 8 valve is the opposite. so don't worry about it mate. you just need to get used the power bands. its a pain but they are quick when you no how to drive them, i've got the 8 valve just becuse its easier to drive and lots of low down torque, but it tops out when the 16 valve starts going!, so give it some stick and have fun!! p.s you've nicked my first name!
If your keen enuf get rid of that maaassive gearbox with stupidly tall ratios an get yerself an 8v gearbox. Recently had it done in me Cupra, BRILLIANT!!!!.
