Lacquer peel

Afternoon all. In a previous post I stated that I’d got real bad lacquer peel on my bonnet. It’s got real bad now and have decided the cheapest option due to funds would be to wrap it. I’ve found a place close to me that supplies the wrap at great prices. A friend recommended them after using their product himself. What do you guys/girls think? I own a red 2010 Leon FR 170bhp. Couple of photos to show the peel and a link if anyone is interested in seeing their site. I’d really like to attempt this myself but would like to know if any of you have done so already and how easy is it? Thanks, Dave

Not within my current budget no as for a decent one you’re looking around £150-200 but almost all I’ve seen have the same lacquer peel or ridiculous dents which defeats the object. There’s different coloured ones ie silver or green but I don’t think they’d look good on a red car haha

The best alternative is for you to await until you can afford to remove/repaint the hood. I wouldn’t waist money on wrap as it will not cover the uneven surface.

I’d obviously flat it back a bit with some fine paper to rid it of uneven bits. The bonnet itself is nice and straight. It’s just the lacquer peel that needs sorting. For the price of the wrap I’d rather do that till I’ve got the funds so as to not let the weather ruin the paint allowing the possibility of rust. Appreciate the reply though, cheers.

Apologies for bringing up my old post but quick question, is there a difference in bonnets between a pre facelift and a facelift? Mine is I believe a facelift as it’s a 2010 FR. (Flat bottom steering wheel). I’ve been searching for a while for bonnets but most say either 2005-2009 or 2005-2012. Confusing the hell out of me now.

Hav you had any quotes to get your bonnet re-laquered?
Years ago i worked in a bodyshop (just a stripper and fitter) and i saw them strip a bonnet of peeling laquer and re-laquered it.
Maybe a reasonably priced option and the colour will match.
Was on a burgundy Vauxhall Carlton, thats how long ago it was lol.
Worth going to a couple of bodyshops for a few quotes.

Apologies for the late reply only just seen this. Unfortunately there’s a couple of places where the paint has now chipped away so that’s no option. Luckily a friend of mine is going to spray it up for me at his work so there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for the reply though.

Went for a quote to have mine painted earlier so just waiting to hear back.
