Morning all,

After some buyers advice, im making a return to the Seat scene after 3 years.

My girlfriend is "finally" looking at selling her MG ZR (yes, I have done the head-gasket), we have set a target of March next year to start looking, as it will give us a chance to save a little in the meantime.

As we now live together, I will be driving the car quite often - so have agreed to put some money towards the purchase (im too soft), this also means the car will need to have a certain element of fun/individuality.

I put together a shortlist, mainly comprising of smaller hot-hatches;

Clio 182, EP3 Type-R, 8L S3, LCR.

I have pretty much narrowed it down to the LCR, mainly due to the fact that circa 260Bhp can be achieved fairly easily on the 225, I know the 1.8T quite well also due to owning a MK3 Ibiza Cupra a few years back (loved that car!)
I know the LCR may not handle as well as the other cars on the list, but the appeal of the FWD power wins it for me.
I drive an A4 Quattro, which handles brilliantly, but the AWD system adds weight and saps quite a-bit of power - so craving some unrefined power again.

We did have a few other cars on the list, I quite fancied an old E36 328 for some RWD fun or an Impreza WRX, but since the car will be a daily drive for the other half I don't want to end up spending a fortune on parts!

We will have around £4k to spend, may be able to stretch a little higher for the right example, but will be looking for one in decent condition - iv bought cheap in the past and spent a lot on parts!
If the car hasn't already got a few toys then ill be carrying out some light changes - FMIC, Milltek.etc

Is there anything to look out for on these when looking?
Im guessing it will be "fairly" similar to the Ibiza Cupra?
I had the lovely ovni yellow - ended up getting the car resprayed in the end.

Many thanks!:D

I know what you said about buying cheap and ending up spending lots on parts....but maybe thats not such a bad idea. Get a higher milage example cheaper then spend the rest on an engine rebuild/uprated rods.

i got mine cheap, needed disks and pads and belts and water pump doing and a maf. i got it cheaper on that basis though they are service items and will always need doing. have done it all in the first 2 weeks along with a service and oil pick up pipe, should last a while now. to me it makes no difference, more expensive needing nothing or cheap and needing some, though i always lean towards the cheaper end so i know exactly what the cars had and what condition its all in
