I wouldn't go anywhere near Regal with somebody else's 10 foot bargepole! To call them clueless cowboys would be an insult to un-educated cowboys!

I remember having my Celica on their rolling road, the results were actually funny. Apparently it had 86lb/ft torque and revved to over 10k rpm

Alright Jon

Votex were great.

You wouldn't be impesssed driving by the garage as it looks like a small time garage with a few cars on the front but Mike was very helpfull.

He explained and answered all my questions and have to say it's the first garage that i've ever been to where i have been treated like a valued customer from start to end.

He even swaped my dv round for a favour as the previous owner had installed it the wrong way

Definately recommend.

ok, i'm one for taking advice on other experiences. i'll cross off regal then.

how about performancedriven.co.uk
they offer APR plus free V Tune (what ever that is)

this is in taunton so not far

Cheers Scott. I've driven past before and thought that it didn't look like they were tuning experts. I'll give Mike a call.

V Tune allows you to change boost, timing and other stuff from your laptop (with a suitable cable). A bit like Lemmiwinks.

When it comes to remap time it will be a choice between AmD and Revo for me, as other options are simply to far away and don't offer anything these don't.

I've owned 2 LCR's, one with an AmD map, the other with Revo Stage 2. Both cars owned for 20k miles from new.

I can heartily recommend Revo every time. AmD are in my personal opinion someway short of the customer experience I used to expect.

Excellent, thank you. Personal recommendations count for a lot in my book, so cheers for that! :)

If he's coming all they way to Taunton he may as well drive an extra 40 mins north and visit Badger 5 (Revo and Custom Code) or 10mins more again and you have Forge

badger 5, do they have an outfit for servicing etc.? also which would you choose out of revo, custom code?

also does forge have a garage too to do work, servicing, mot's etc.?

The big names Revo, Apr, Custom Code, Forge and Jabba all offer fine products for the money IMO, they are just like different flavours of milkshake, some people prefer Strawberry, others prefer Chocolate

I suppose asking how they all compare in terms of power delivery would be pointless ?? I'm guessing not many people have had experience of more than one remap?

If so I don't suppose anyone would know where I could find "generic" power curves for a stage 1 tune of an LC for all of the products so I could compare them.

No servicing at either, if it's straight forward servicing Westec in Newport or the now deceased TSR in Bridgwater was who I used.

Forge will fit any of their bits to your car and do software too.....it's more of an R&D workshop than a garage at Forge

Revo and Custom code = toss a coin, I've had Revo therefore I would probably try Custom Code.......then again Forge did a remap on my A3 TDI which excellent too.

Probably on their web sites each will have a typical RR plot.....or search through the cars at one of the SCN rolling road days to find one the right spec.

Power delivery is meant to be
Revo is Aggressive
APr Less Agressive

But I have driven an LCR with both and TBH their wasn't much in it IMO

I do believe asking yourself questions like I posed in post#6 earlier in this thread and doing some Pro's and Con's may well be the best way to help you reach a decision on which is best for you

thanks for the tips

only thing with revo i have heard of experiences with peaky power how it comes in and then dies off earlier, where as APR is smoother all the way, but that was on an early revo.

i've heard APR being more aggressive than AMD

how was your experience with TSR?
who could you recommend for servicing, general work, mots, mods tuning and upgrading etc. around the area?

It's a nightmare trying to work out which map has which characteristics! Ideally I want a map that makes better use of the rev range and builds strongly but progressively.

I think Revo will be the one for me though, if the funds allow I might even get it done with my 40k service early next year.

Hi Rob

With Custom-Code both phase 2 and 3 maps are totally custom to what modifications you already have such as exhaust systems, FMIC, hybrid turbo, BIG turbo conversions and even supercharger conversions too :)

The Custom-Code Phase 1 remap is a generic map that also can be slightly tweaked by yourself to how you want the car to drive via a laptop, vag-com cable and downloading Custom-Settings FOC from www.custom-code.co.uk

What about Celtic Tuning? Anyone heard of these? Aparently they will travel to your home address and do a "proper" custom re-map... the figures look good, and they seem to get good reviews from TDi owners...

Anyone with an LCR got a remap from Celtic Tuning?
