Could somebody tell me what the servicing milestones are on an 04> LCR?

Looking to by one but I want an idea of when the cambelt should be changed etc..

Thanks!

Rich

Hi
I recently bought an 04 LCR with 47k on the clock, it had Full Service History but to be on the safe side got the Cambelt and Waterpump changed for under £300, other than that its just normal servicing, 20k interviles are your bigger ones.

Just had some new rear discs and pads fitted for £148, been quoted £60 fitted for some Brembo pads.

Ss long as its got history you'll be fine! ;)

sorry fella, it's 4 years or 60k (whatever comes first)! I had a 40k service and cambelt change at awesome last month - cost was £594

I'd rather scrimp on the service (ie do the oil and filter change yourself) rather than the cambelt!

mine is on 30k and its due its 3rd service...is this a major one or just oil change?, funds are tight at the mo lol

Isnt that going to be an oil change service only, as you fall in between the 20k/40k miles (30k/60k km) Additional operations? I got to admit i found how they explained it a bit odd, but maybe I was having a thick day when I read it... :)

EDIT Oops - forgot about the "or x years whichever comes first bit" - maybe best to just ignore me

I would ignore the mileage mate! My LCR is 4 years old and has only done 30k but as it's the 3rd service since new it had the 40k service which isn't an interim! All is explained in your inspection manual!

40k:

spark plugs
air filter
power steering fluid check
+ interim service
+ bake fluid change (every two years)

well i phoned my specialist today and he said the cambelt is 5 years or 60k....so im a happy bunny

5 years IMO is pushing it mate. Most people on here opt for 4 years but each to their own...

I'm sure you'll be ok if you hang on but IMO its not worth the risk...

May be you can get the camblet done in a couple of months when your a little more flush?

i kinda realise its a risk bud but the car does maybe 3000 miles a year since i moved.....

i was just gonna get the major and cambelt done in one go as im sure the car will run great after all this work, but a year early?...and 3k a year? i will risk it i think

Your choice fella :)

I think the 4 year thing is do to the fact that regardless of whether the car moves or not the belt can still weather/crack (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

When you say a year early do you mean its a year early for the 40k service?

1st year/service - Interim
2nd year/service - Major
3rd year/service - Interim
4th year/service -Major

My LCR was born on April 16th 2005 (05 reg - 30k). It had a 4 year major service and cambelt change a couple of months back at Awesome...

i meant a year early as in its 4 years old now, but greig at totalVAG reckons its every 5 years as its all been changed, thats all i meant....i hate taking major risks like this but when your skint your skint lol

yeah true, probably do it in the next few weeks then.

this is proof how strong these engines or how SEAT are worriers because 6 years and 62k?...and no new cambelt and its running fine?...tells me mine should be fine for this year

I bought my cupra 03 with 90k on it and was told that the belt had been changed (by garage selling it). I then contacted the previous own and then said it had definately NOT been done and they were the second owner since it had 30k on and it was due to be done at next service which would have been 100k. I crapped myself and stopped driving it for a week until the garage could do it. got it done about £300 (belt, tensioner and metal water pump) and the guy said do you want the old parts back as they are still in good condition (water pump and belt).

This had full SEAT history as well but it had been missed by them - not happy

I think i may have been just extremely lucky as have heard horror storys with car with less mileage than this, personally i was scared to drive it when i found out, it was always playing on my mind.
